Fear can creep in unexpectedly, whether it’s uncertainty about the future, a health diagnosis, or simply the weight of daily life. Thankfully, the Bible doesn’t leave us without guidance for the times when we are scared. Again and again, God tells His people, “Do not fear.” He knows we need reassurance, and He offers it to us in his Word. If you’re walking through a storm or feeling overwhelmed, these 10 Bible verses can be a source of strength, hope, and peace.

10. Isaiah 41:10 (ESV): “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

This verse is a powerful reminder that God is holding you up when your fear makes you feel like you don’t have the strength to stand.

9. Psalm 56:3 (ESV): “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Anytime you feel afraid, put your trust in God. He will carry you through.

8. 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV): “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Fear doesn’t come from God. With His spirit living in us, we have supernatural strength to overcome fear.

7. Joshua 1:9 (ESV): “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous, and we can do the same, no matter what we face.

6. Psalm 23:4 (ESV): “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

These timeless words from Psalm 23 remind us that God is with us, even when death feels near.

5. John 14:27 (ESV): “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Jesus leaves his peace with us, so we don’t need to fear anything.

4. Romans 8:15 (ESV): “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’”

After receiving the Holy Spirit, we are free from fear. Praise God!

3. Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV): “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

God will never leave us or forsake us, even when we feel alone with our fear.

2. 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV): “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

God cares for us, and we can leave all of our fear with him.

1. Isaiah 43:1 (ESV): “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”

We belong to God, and he knows us, loves us, and fights for us.

In times of fear, Scripture gives us more than nice words — it gives us truth to stand on. No matter what you’re facing, let these verses be a lifeline that draws you back to the peace of God.
