Former President Donald Trump recently spoke at a national gathering of conservative Christians, urging the audience not to vote for incumbent Joe Biden, claiming Christianity in American culture would be in “tatters” if he is reelected. Trump further called on Christians to not be silenced by the anti-Christian left.
Speaking on Saturday at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference at the nation’s capitol, Trump called on Christian voters to show up at the ballot box in opposition to the Biden-Harris campaign. “We need Christians to turn out in the largest numbers ever to tell Crooked Joe Biden … ‘Joe, you’re fired,'” Trump said, according to the Christian Post.
Trump further warned that the left is attacking Christianity, claiming they want to exclude followers of Christ from American politics. Illustrating the dire circumstances of the nation, Trump maintained that Christians cannot refrain from performing their civic duties.
“The radical left is trying to shame Christians, silence you, demoralize you and they want to keep you out of politics. They don’t want you to vote. That’s why you have to vote,” he said. “If you vote, we cannot lose. They don’t want you to vote. But Christians cannot afford to sit on the sidelines. If Joe Biden gets in, Christianity will not be safe in a nation with no borders, no laws, no freedom, no future.”
The former president further argued that “your religion certainly will be, I think, in tatters.” He also addressed criticism his administration has faced over its treatment of Catholics. “What is that all about?” he asked before suggesting that Biden, who claims to be a devout Catholic, “has no idea what the hell is happening.”
The presumptive 2024 Republican nominee continued, “I don’t think it is him. I think it’s the people that surround him, the fascists, communists,” he said. “They’re young, very smart, vicious people.” Trump continued, “We do not answer to the bureaucrats in Washington; we answer to God in Heaven.”
As he faces the weight of the government prosecuting him ahead of the election, Trump called out the federal government for targeting Christians over their faith, which he labeled the “soul” of America. “Joe Biden is weaponizing the Justice Department to viciously persecute pro-life activists and Americans of faith,” Trump stated. “Never again will the federal government be used to target religious believers,” he said, opining that “Americans of faith are not a threat to our country; Americans of faith are the soul of our country.”
Additionally, Trump touted his track record of representing Christians in the executive branch. He told the crowd of believers, that with their support, they would revitalize the nation and straighten out all of the societal misalignments that have developed in recent years.
“I defended Judeo-Christian heritage like no president in the history of our country,” he said. “With your help, I will continue to fight for our values and our civilization for four more years in the White House. We’re going to straighten it out. We’re going to straighten it out fast.”
