Recently, U.S. Senate candidate and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake spoke about the Bible verse, which she claims God spoke to her through, that prompted her to exit her job in the news industry. Lake also called for a revival of Christianity in American culture, which seems to be becoming increasingly secular.
Lake said, “I want to bring Him back,” to which she pointed toward Heaven, denoting that she was referring to God. “We need to bring Him back into our culture, into our lives, into our hearts and souls,” she added. Lake then addressed the decision to leave her job as a television news anchor, noting that her faith played a role.
According to the Republican Senate candidate, she felt “immoral” working in media, pushing what she described as “half-truths.” She explained, “What mattered more than a paycheck was the meeting I’m going to have someday with this guy,” as Lake once again pointed toward Heaven.
The Arizona Republican emphasized that our conditions in this life are nothing compared to the eternal reward offered to us by Jesus Christ. “I’m not super worried about being called names down here,” she continued. “I want to get a big old welcome and a hug when I go up to Heaven.”
However, that doesn’t mean things will always be easy during our time on Earth. Lake illustrated her struggle after deciding to quit her job, where she endured fear and apprehension. She claimed that after praying for guidance from God, she felt called to open His word.
She said, “At that time, I grabbed my Bible. I literally opened the Bible; I didn’t know where I was opening it.” Lake explained that she opened the word of God to 1 Timothy 6:7, which reads, “You bring nothing into this world and it is for certain you take nothing out.”
Lake noted that this was all the guidance she needed, stating, “I said, ‘Got it loud and clear. I’m out.'” However, this did not entail that she would live a quiet and peaceful life outside of the pervasive chaos in American politics. She recounted, “God said, ‘No, no, no, I’ve got a few things I have planned for you before that quiet life.'”
Lake continued, “‘I’m going to throw you into the middle of politics. You’re going to end up in the middle of the political world,'” He told her. “‘You’re going to help lead a movement in Arizona, you’re going to fight for election integrity, you’re going to be called every name in the book. The media’s going to hate you, the media’s going to write 100% negative coverage of you.'”
The Senate candidate pointed out that we often need to remind ourselves to submit to God’s plan and forego our own desires. “I think sometimes we pray for what we want,” she said. “I’ve stopped doing that because you know what I was doing? I was praying to God. … I was saying, ‘I need strength, please give me strength.'” Lake noted that God gives us the strength to accomplish feats that are otherwise impossible to achieve on our own.
