Former President Donald Trump recently sat down for an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, where she asked the GOP nominee if he had watched any of the Olympic Games. Trump claimed that the opening ceremony was a “disgrace,” describing what many have viewed as an overt mockery of “The Last Supper,” an artistic depiction of one of the most crucial moments in Christian history.
When asked about the Olympics by the Fox News host, he said, “I thought the opening ceremony was a disgrace, actually.” Trump emphasized, “I thought it was a disgrace.” Ingraham replied, “The mocking of The Last Supper. Catholics and Christians across the globe are outraged.” Trump said, “I thought it was terrible,” doubling down on his disdain for the performance.
Trump continued, “We won’t be having a Last Supper as portrayed the way they portrayed it the other night,” he told the host. “I mean, they can do certain things. I thought it was terrible … Look, I’m for everybody. I’m very open-minded. but I think what they did was a disgrace.”
In the run-up to the election, the Republican presidential nominee has been extremely vocal about his support for Christianity. Particularly after his miraculous survival of the assassination attempt earlier this month, Trump has also discussed God in relation to his personal life, maintaining that it was an act of providence that he is alive after a bullet grazed his ear.
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.” He continued, “We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.”
The former president added, “In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin. DJT”
Trump has also encouraged Christian voters to get out and vote in November, where he maintained that Christians will “make a comeback” unlike any other group if he is reelected. The former president has warned about the Democratic Party and its values which seemingly contradict Christian values.

“I hope we’ll be defending them side by side for your next four years. These are going to be your years, because you’re going to make a comeback like just about no other group. I know what’s happening. I know where you’re coming from and where you’re going, and I’ll be with you side by side. So again, thank you once again for everything you do. And you have to get out and vote. Our religious leaders have to get their incredible people that love them so much and respect them so much. Have to get them out to vote,” he said.
