Famous actor Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus Christ on the hit show The Chosen, recently sat down for an interview on the “Pints With Aquinas” podcast. He shared his experience appearing on the daytime talk show “The View.” Roumie noted that he wasn’t nervous about going on the show, which is often known for embracing secular values.
Host Matt Fradd asked Roumie to recount his experience when he sat down with the panel of ladies on the show. “What was it like going on the view? Because I would imagine you would have thought, Oh, could be a minefield, but you seem to handle that. You did handle it really well,” Fradd said.
Roumie responded that he was initially uncertain about how the interview would go, but he eventually left it up to God and ceased to worry about it. “I think for a millisecond I was like, Oh, I wonder how this is going to go. But I was never worried. I prayed about it, of course, and and like everything else that I’ve committed to on this journey. I have to surrender it. It’s like, Lord, You’ve given me this opportunity. I must be for a reason, so I’m not I’m not going to worry about consequences, I’m not going to worry about anything,” he said.
Furthermore, Roumie maintained that he sought to go on the show and just be genuine. “I’m just going to go authentically, be who you made me to be, and just be present to people. And the response was overwhelming. It was unexpected in many ways and what especially for people watching the show, people were more nervous for me than I was nervous for me. I’m like, what they’re people. They’re just people,” he added.
The actor said he spoke with all of the hosts after the interview, noting that they were “lovely” conversations where the co-hosts were open to his message. “And afterwards, after this segment, I had conversations with every one of the hosts, and they were lovely. And what I realized is there are so many people that are just on a journey. They’re searching. They’re searching. They they don’t necessarily, may not necessarily believe, they may not necessarily know what to expect. They but they’re searching, and they were open to what I was bringing to them through the Holy Spirit,” he said.

The Christian Tribune recently reported on comments from Roumie discussing how it feels to to play Jesus Christ. “I need to rely on people to remind me of the last several years because they’ve been so insane,” Roumie said. “It’s been so overwhelming at times, and I’ve met so many people, and I’ve shown up so many places, and I kind of have relegated a lot of the experiences.”
He further explained that he often meets fans who would explain how his work had changed their lives. “If I show up at a conference and then I have met a bunch of people that pour their heart out to me and tell me, like, what’s been going on in their lives and how my work has affected them, it just sort of puts me into a different mode where all of a sudden I think my brain has to just shut down or just kind of portion away moments,” he said.
