Following President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the 2024 presidential election, the soon-to-be 47th president of the United States thanked God as the final votes came in. First making it a point to honor the Lord, Trump celebrated winning every single swing state and decisively taking the popular vote.
Trump posted on social media, “THANK YOU GOD! WON ALL SWING STATES, & THE POPULAR VOTE BY ALMOST 7 MILLION VOTERS. GOT 312 ELECTORAL VOTES.” Trump also pointed out that he flipped many counties that have historically voted blue. “IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, WON 31 OF 32 STATEWIDE JUDICIAL BENCHES, AND EVERY COUNTY IN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY. THEY WERE ALL BLUE 8 YEARS AGO, & GOT ONE MILLION MORE TEXAS VOTES THAN IN 2020!” he added.
Particularly after the failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump has increasingly spoken about his faith in God, believing that he spared his life for a divine purpose. During his victory speech last week, Trump told the country that God “spared” his life for a “reason” to save the United States.
During the speech, Trump told the audience, “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason.” He added, “And that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness, and now we are going to fulfill that mission together, we’re going to fulfill that mission.”
“The task before us will not be easy, but I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight that I have in my soul to the job that you’ve entrusted to me. This is a great job that there’s no job like this. This is the most important job in the world,” he added.
The Christian Tribune further reported on comments from Trump that he would bring faith leaders directly into the Oval Office. “First of all, we’re going to set that up, and we’ll be talking to you and all of the people that we just met, and anybody else that you think is appropriate as well,” he maintained. “It’s important, and it’ll be directly into the Oval Office.”
Speaking about not allowing Christianity to fall into obscurity in the United States, Trump said, “We can’t let that happen because I really believe it’s, it’s sort of the fabric of our country. It’s a thing that holds our country together and we can’t lose it and we’re not gonna lose it. We’re not gonna lose it.” He maintained, “I think this is a country that needs religion. It’s like the glue that holds it together and we don’t have that. That’s why you are the most important people and I’m not sure you even realize it.”
Vice President-elect JD Vance has also demonstrated his commitment to Christianity. “I want to talk particularly to people faith, because I know we got a lot of Catholics here, and, you know, I don’t talk a whole lot about my faith, because, you know, sometimes you just talk about other things. You talk about public policy. But I’m certainly a very devout Christian, and I was actually baptized for the first time in 2019 I returned to my faith as a as a young man, got baptized,” Vance said.
