Prominent pastor T.D. Jakes recently suffered from what has been described as a “slight health incident” during a service over the weekend at The Potter’s House megachurch, which the bishop founded in Dallas, Texas. The medical incident occurred when the pastor was preaching on Psalm 19:14 during the church’s Sunday service.
The Potter’s House of Dallas said in a statement on social media, which read, “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
“It was a pleasure. I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching. I miss you. I miss you,” Jakes told the congregation during the sermon. “Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody and you thought you was going to encourage them, and they encourage you? That’s what preaching is. Like you think you’re giving out something, you’re getting back more than you gave. I love you,” he said as his hand appeared to tremble.
Jakes then preached Psalm 19:14, stating, “Now Lord let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight oh Lord my strength, and My Redeemer let him go in peace.” At this point, it became apparent that Jakes was experiencing a medical incident, where bystanders rushed to surround him and congregants began praying.
Following the incident, Jakes received an outpouring of prayers and support from users on social media, “Pastors have health incidents just as anyone else! Pray Saints! Pray that we will lift our leaders at all times! The harvest is plentiful, but the true laborers are few. We love you Bishop Jakes!” one person commented.
Another said, “We are praying for the full recovery of his health in Jesus Name. We celebrate grace in the life and the ministry of Bishop Jakes. Many more fruitful years of service to God and humanity in Jesus Name.” Similarly another person noted they were praying for Jakes, writing, “Praying for you Bishop! Your Ministry has made a Difference in so many of our Lives, we pray for your Healing and Recuperation, in Jesus Name!”
Another offered the inspiring message, “We are praying Bishop and we love you. God is not finished with you yet.🙏🏽The enemy is upset with your powerful message today. But he forgot, our God is bigger and stronger. You belong to God. No weapon formed against you will ever prosper. 🤺🩸✝️❤️”
“Our heartfelt prayers are with Bishop T.D. Jakes during this challenging time,” another person said. “May God, the ultimate healer, surround him with His peace, strength, and comfort. We pray for his quick and full recovery, trusting that the Lord will continue to uphold him and his family. Bishop Jakes has been a pillar of faith and encouragement to so many, and now it’s our turn to lift him up in prayer. May the grace of God be sufficient for him in this season.”
