In the days after  15-year-old student opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison Wisconsin police have started investigating the online footprint of the perpetrator. . The shooter used a 9mm handgun to kill 2 and wound 6. The shooter did not survive the massacre. One student and one teacher were killed. An additional 2 students were in critical condition with 4 in less serious condition. 2 of the wounded have already been released from the hospital.

After the shooter started firing inside a study hall “full of students from multiple grade levels,” at a small Wisconsin Christian school dozens of officers descended on the scene. Law enforcement was alerted by a 911 call from a second grader. The murderer. Identified by police as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound by police and died en route to the hospital.

Abundant Life is a nondenominational Christian school that houses approximately 420 students from pre-k to 12th grade in Madison, the state capital. Police Chief Shon Barnes said, “Every child, every person in that building is a victim and will be a victim forever. … We need to figure out and try to piece together what exactly happened.“ He added that “Everyone was targeted in this incident and everyone was put in equal danger.” Police do not believe that anyone was targeted specifically.

Barnes said that the shooter’s father, as well as the rest of the family, was cooperating with police. “He lost someone as well,” Barnes said of Rupnow’s father. “And so we’re not going to rush the information. We’ll take our time and make sure we do our due diligence.” Police have searched the shooter’s home for clues related to the attack. “They were cooperative. Despite this tragedy, they still lost a child. They still lost a member of their family,” Barnes said.

Members of the community held a vigil for the victims of the attack. “Yesterday, the Madison community experienced a terrible and traumatic event,” Satya Rhodes-Conway Mayor of Madison said. “We will never be the same, but we will get through this. And we will get through this together by relying on each other and taking care of each other.”
Victims have not been identified, and the mayor is asking the media to respect their privacy. “Let them grieve. Let them recover. Let them heal,” Rhodes-Conway said. She added that “share what we can when we can and not before that.” No motive has been identified although police have been investigating allegations of bullying. There are believed to be multiple factors at play.
Several students at the school have described what they experienced. “I was in the hallway, and I was changing from my shoes to my boots to go to lunch because I have recess after, but then I heard the shooting and screams,” a girl in second-grade told Chicago Journalists. James Smith, who daughter attends the school, described how the school superficially caters to students who’ve been bullied in public schools. “We, as a school, desire to help those who are having troubles, to be able to provide a safe space for them to grow, at the same time balance across a safe space for the rest of our student body,” he said.
Uncordially other schools have reported harassment in the wake of the shooting. While police do not believe that there are any threats, police have received several false reports of shootings. Barnes described how multiple schools “were targeted by false threats often known as swatting”  “Making false threats is a crime, and we are working with the district attorney,” a spokesman for the local police said.
