Following suffering from and surving a terrifying heart attack he suffered in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, former Major League Baseball All-Star Darryl Strawberry said that he is and will be thanking and praising the Lord for showing His incredible mercy and grace. Strawberry played 17 seasons in his career, playing for the Mets, Dodgers, Giants, and Yankees.
Strawberry posted his message about God and His grace from his hospital bed in St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, with the comments about the Lord coming in the caption and the main picture being of him with his family members.
In the caption, Strawberry led off by thanking and praising God, writing, “Praising God for His amazing grace and loving mercy in saving my life this evening from a heart attack. I am so happy and honored to report that all is well.”
Continuing, he then went on to thanks the medical staff at the hospital for all the hard work they did in patching him up after the heart attack, saying, “So thankful for the medical team and staff at St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis for responding so quickly and bringing me through a stent-procedure that has brought my heart to total restoration!!!”
Concluding, Strawberry returned to faith topics, thanking those who prayed for him for doing so and again praising and thanking the Lord. He wrote, “Your prayers are so absolutely appreciated as I continue to recover, in Jesus Name! #savedbyHisgrace❤️❤️🫶🏾”
In another post, also from the hospital, he thanked the Lord, writing, “I have a lot to be grateful for on my 62nd birthday today, celebrating the gift of my life and love of family! We thank God for this recovery process! Blessed 🫶🏾❤️❤️”
Strawberry, an eight-time All-Star and four-time Wold Series champ, now leads Strawberry Ministries with his wife Tracy. Together, they aim to use Strawberry Ministries to help “lead people to Jesus, teach them how to grow in their faith, and experience freedom in Christ through step-by-step resources and daily encouragement.”
Speaking about his faith during the Southern California Harvest Crusade in 2019, an event hosted by Greg Laurie. Mr. Strawberry said, “I have been privileged my whole life to live behind community gates in [million dollar] homes and everything. But at the end of the day, I was empty on the inside. I didn’t have what I needed on the inside.”
He continued, “We can accumulate all these great things but if you don’t have Jesus on the inside of you, you are not going to be well as a person. It doesn’t matter what another kind of material stuff we have. I have searched for so long to have such a relationship with God myself, but I didn’t know him.”
He added, speaking about coming to Jesus, “I didn’t know Jesus. I just knew His name and everything. When you truly know Him, you become a true follower of Jesus, [and] the Lord allows you to be a vessel for Him, [and] to be able to do great Kingdom work,” he said. “It is never about us. It is always about leading other people to the Cross so they can get saved and set free from the bondage and [experience] the change in their life.”
