Michael Eric Dyson, a preacher and professor, gave an anti-Trump rant disguised as a sermon. The infamous activist argued that Trump is misinformed and ignorant. He also took aim at Trump’s cabinet and position on DEI. He used the sermon as a way to stir up racial hatred and score cheap political points. Trump said that DEI, which opened hiring to those with severe disabilities, could have caused the crash.
“That Joker is a notoriously ignorant, deviously mendacious, horribly ill-informed leader who will oppress his people,” Dyson began. “The first thing he did when he got back in office is to kill DEI, and then blamed the crash on DEI. Oh, DEI is operating alright with ignorant, mediocre white people occupying places of authority in America that they ain’t earned.” He said, referencing the recent fatal airplane crash over Washington DC.
“There’s been DEI,” he said with more passion than grammar. ” Was it DEI when it was racist, only white acceptance at schools? Was it DEI when it was white water fountains against black water fountains? Was it DEI when black folk couldn’t vote? Was it DEI when we had literacy tests and to count how many jelly beans were in the jar?”
“Was it DEI? Then yes, it was deny, erase, and intimidate. That’s what your DEI has been about. You got thugs, crooks, and criminals in your cabinet. You got [abusers], people accused of it,” Dyson ranted. ” You got folk who are sexual assaulters in your cabinet. You have people who have been disloyal to America and stood with Russian plants in your office, but you got the nerve to talk about black folk being ignorant.”
“You talked about Kamala the same way,” he pivoted. ” You said she was stupid and dumb, and then you said there were Haitian brothers and sisters eating cats and dogs. Now, you know the Bible talks about a donkey as a an ass. I’m not cursing, I’m telling you what the Bible said. So let me quote the Bible. I didn’t see no Haitians Eden, cats and dogs, but I saw a black woman, eating a white ass on television, when she spoke back to it.”
At the time of the crash, Donald Trump asked God to “watch over those who have lost their lives and bring comfort to the loved ones” and wrapped up by saying, “God bless everyone in this room.” He reported that federal authorities are looking into the crash and hinted that a focus on diversity may have affected the capability of Air traffic control. Trump has specifically singled out hiring requirements for Air traffic controllers.
The president signed an executive order that was focused on “restoring our highest standards for air traffic controllers and other important jobs throughout the country.” He cited an article that emphasized hiring people with ‘severe intellectual’ and ‘psychiatric’ disabilities because they are “the most underrepresented segment of the workforce.” He excoriated the FAA’s ‘diversity push.’
Watch Dysons Rant Here:
The FAA [was] actively recruiting workers who suffer severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website,” says Trump. The president took aim at policies that would have cleared these types of disabled people to guide jets into an airport.
He said people “missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability, and dwarfism” were to be hired for the crucial role. He quoted an FAA statement: “Diversity is integral to achieving the FAA’s mission of safe and efficient travel.” The president strongly disagreed with the memo and believed that competence should be the sole relevant feature.
