In a mic-dropping moment, podcast host Joe Rogan hinted at the possibility that he believes in God and Jesus, telling a guest that he thought the big bang theory made no sense and that there was more evidence for Christ’s resurrection than for the idea that the universe created itself out of nothing.

For context, in a conversation with Cody Tucker on May 7, 2025, Rogan expressed incredulity about the big bang theory, saying that the resurrection of Jesus made more sense than the idea that the universe inexplicably created itself out of nothing and uttering the now-viral line, “I’m sticking with Jesus.”

During the interview with Rogan, Tucker expressed his own skepticism about the big bang theory and the idea that the universe is expanding, saying, “That can’t be true, because, like, what is it expanding into? If space is space, you know, if they’re like, oh, it’s like blowing up a balloon where everything’s okay, well, you’re blowing up a balloon in a room, right?”

Building on his point, Tucker said, “So what’s the room that you’re blowing the balloon into, right? And then that’s in a bigger room. And then that’s right.” Rogan replied by referencing the theory that the universe is wrapping around itself in a torus shape, saying, “And then there’s the concept, it’s actually finite. It’s not infinite. And it’s some sort of donut shape.”

Continuing, Tucker brought up the age-old conundrum: “But then, who made all that?” He continued, “Right? Like, is there a god? Did God make this?” Rogan interjected, “Or is God the universe?” Tucker continued, “Yep. But then, who made God? And then that bothers me, right? But who made that thing?” Rogan, in response, seemed to imply that God might simply be self-existent, saying, “Is that a thing that we think that like because we were born and we die, that we have these biological limitations that we attach to the universe itself?”

Moving on, Rogan quoted Terrence McKenna, a noted psychedelics advocate, who said, “Science only asks you for one miracle.” Building on this point, Rogan said, “I want you to believe in one miracle, the big bang. Yeah, yeah, that’s a good one. It’s a great line.” He added, “It’s because it really is true, and it’s funny, because people would be incredulous about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but yet they’re convinced that the entire universe was smaller than the head of a pen.”

Concluding the conversation, Rogan said that he felt that the big bang theory had “no reason that anybody’s adequately explained to me,” adding, “Yeah, no, instantaneously became everything, yeah, okay, I can’t buy that. I’m sticking with Jesus, yeah, Jesus makes more sense.”

When conservative commentator Colin Rugg shared a clip of the exchange between Rogan and Tucker online, he wrote, “Everyone should look into the evidence surrounding Jesus’ life for themselves. It is compelling.” He added, “There is four times as much documentation of Jesus Christ as the Roman emperor at the time, Tiberius.”

Continuing, Rugg provided more evidence for Christ’s impact and resurrection, saying, “Jesus left such an impression on his disciples that every one of them dedicated the rest of their lives to teaching his message, and almost every one of them lost their lives for it.” He concluded, “The first documents on Jesus’ life are first-hand accounts that were written within a couple of decades of his crucifixion. For comparison, the earliest documentation we have on Alexander the Great is dated to *hundreds* of years after his death.”
