Candace Cameron Bure is the Christian actress who left the Hallmark Channel over what she said was its willingness to make content that she thought conflicted with her Christian faith, particularly her understanding of marriage. She has since remained an outspoken messenger of her faith, explaining why it is important and that helping people come to it is her life purpose.
Such is what she told Movieguide in March of 2024, explaining that her Christian faith and spreading it is what she sees as being the most “precious” thing in the world. She said, “[My faith] is where my heart is at. The most precious thing to me in the world is to share my faith. And whether I’m doing that in conversation or through my films, it’s my mission in life.”
Continuing, she told Movieguide that she puts her faith in God, trusting and hoping in Him. She said, “We’re all living life, you know, and my faith and hope and trust is in God. And so no matter what storms are around, no matter what chaos is going on in the world and cultural wars and social injustice is, I look to God and to His word to navigate it.”
Continuing, she explained how having grown up around parents and grandparents who were very strong in their faith helped her build her relationship with the Lord. She said, “I’ve come from an incredible line and generations of faith filled parents and grandparents and great grandparents.” She continued, “I’m so happy for my son and his beautiful wife and you know, they love the Lord and so I just can’t wait to see what they’re gonna do and grow in their lives and how they will lead in ministry.”
She also explained how she is creating more and more content that is based in her Christian faith, saying, “I have lots [of movies] that are in development, in the works, and coming out. UNSUNG HEROES – a movie that will be in theaters April 26, that we’re very excited about, that I co-produced.” She continued, “And then all the movies on the Great American Family channel. There is a great new Easter movie coming out this year that I produced, and obviously there will be lots of Christmas movies.”
One way Bure helped spread her faith is by converting a fellow actress, her friend Danica McKellar, to Christianity. Explaining McKellar’s embrace of the faith, she said, “It’s been incredible. It humbles me when anyone finds the joy and love in Jesus that I know of, and so many people know of.” She added, speaking about how wonderful it is to see proselytizing had an impact, “But when it’s someone that you didn’t even quite realize was searching and you had an impact, it’s even more special.”
Bure added that she is glad McKellar started asking questions about Christianity and eventually began a faith journey, saying, “I’m glad she just asked me questions, that was like the most amazing thing she was willing and open to ask and start her journey.”
