Actress Gina Carano, once a Disney actress known for her work on The Mandalorian and now, after an attempted “cancellation” over a misunderstanding about a social media post and anger about her conservative views, an actress for The Daily Wire’s movie arm, spoke about reflecting on Christ’s suffering this year struck her “more intensely” than in past years. Her comments came around Easter, the usual time for Christian reflection on the Passion of Christ.
Carano spoke about the matter on X, writing both about her views on Christ’s suffering, describing what he went through before and during his time on the cross, and how he went through all that suffering to wash the world clean, where those who believe in Him are forgiven and have eternal life.
Beginning, Carano wrote that her thoughts about Easter this year were different than usual, as she really thought in an intense way about what Christ went through, how he suffered intensely before being resurrected. She wrote, “This weekend is striking me much more intensely than it ever has. The crucification and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
Continuing, she noted what Jesus went through in Jerusalem before he was even scourged or crucified, saying, “What Jesus went through.. the way He remained silent to the priests and elder’s accusations who had arrested Him out of envy. How the priests and elders persuaded the mob to crucify Jesus instead of the notorious criminal Barrabas.”
Continuing, she described how the mob shouted for Barabbas to be saved rather than the blameless son of God, writing, “The way Pilate was persuaded by the mob and Pilate washed his hands of it and said, ‘I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!'”
Next, she described the indignity and pain inflicted upon Christ as the crowd cheered and jeered, saying that thinking of his suffering broke her heart. She wrote, “The way the soldiers mocked Him, tortured Him and crucified Jesus as the mob mocked, cheered and watched. The details of this utterly break my heart.”
She then reflected on his forgiveness of those inflicting that pain on him, writing, “And in the midst of it all while being crucified, He saved a man who was being crucified next to Him saying, ‘Today you will be with me in Paradise’. How on the cross being in excruciating pain He asked for forgiveness for those who were crucifying Him. ‘For they know not what they do.’💔”
Carano then commented on God’s love being open to all, saying, “And Jesus did it all so that we could be washed clean and enter into heaven to be with Him. My prayer is that more than ever in the history of the humanity, God receives thankful prayers of love for the sacrifice He made and hearts open and receive Him into their lives this weekend. That He sees the gratefulness in our hearts for this life we have been so blessed to be given to stumble and journey through with Him. I also pray mercy for us all that He comfort and be with us every step of the way when we pick up our cross and say, ‘Here am I, send me.'”
And, addressing those reading her Easter Sunday post, Carano wrote, “If this reaches you I hope it’s comforting to know, you are not alone. If you’re not familiar with this story I read Matthew 27 in the Bible today, then I would go to John 3:16. Have a loving #ResurrectionDay this 2024. God bless you. He is Risen.”
