Prominent faith leader Franklin Graham celebrated the life and big personality of wrestling star Hulk Hogan, who sadly passed away on July 24 after experiencing cardiac arrest. Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse and son of evangelist Billy Graham, called Hogan “a character” and spoke fondly about his brief experience of meeting the wrestler.

For background, on July 24, 2025, Hulk Hogan, 71, died after reportedly experiencing cardiac arrest while at home in Clearwater, Florida. Months earlier, Hogan had posted on social media about his baptism alongside members of his family, which he referred to as the “greatest day” of his life. After his passing, support and condolences poured in, including from Franklin Graham.

Writing on social media, Graham said,  “I was saddened to read that Hulk Hogan passed away today,” adding, “I had the privilege of being with him last year at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and was able to talk with him briefly backstage. What a character! He went on stage just before I did, and after he ripped his shirt off, I wondered how in the world I would follow that!”

Continuing, Graham harkened back to Hogan’s baptism, saying, “He and his wife Sky were baptized at their church in 2023.” He continued, “When posting about his baptism, he said, ‘Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life.’ I know his family would appreciate your prayers during this time.”

Moreover, wrestler Ric Flair shared a testament to Hogan’s faith online, saying of Hogan, “He was always there for me even when I didn’t ask for him to be. He was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with a 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside.” He added, “Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you! Rest in peace my friend! 🙏🏻”

In addition, conservative influencer and outspoken Christian Charlie Kirk celebrated Hogan’s life as well, writing, “Hulk Hogan was a genuine, uniquely American creation.” He continued, “Fearlessly original. Flawed but unbowed. He had the courage to stand on his own principles, and he never stopped fighting for his country. An American icon. He will be missed.”

Eighteen months prior to his passing, Hogan posted about his baptism on December 10, 2023, sharing a video of himself and his wife dedicating their lives to Jesus at a ceremony at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Florida. Hogan said, “Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life.” He added, “No worries, no hate, no judgment… only love!”

In response to Hogan’s baptism announcement, commenters on X celebrated, including Fr. Calvin Robinson, who wrote, “Welcome to the Church of Christ, brother. May God bless you.” Joel Berry of the satirical Christian news site The Babylon Bee celebrated as well, simply writing, “BROTHER.”
