Somali Muslim Ilhan Omar proved once again she is the biggest ingrate in the country and simply a vile human being after a video circulated in early October where she laughed at the idea of Trump dying and disparaged God-fearing, heritage Americans who support him as obstructionists to democracy and the rule of law.
For context, Ilhan Omar came to America at the age of 12 in 1995 and since then has been on a crusade to undermine everything that makes this country great. She has said at different times since being elected to Congress that the nation that rescued her and given her everything is worse than Somalia, and has also specifically called out white men as a danger to the country.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) remarked during the first Trump administration that she was about “as ungrateful as you can get” during one of her typical diatribes against the greatest country in the history of the world. “She says we’re a terrible country? I think that’s about as ungrateful as you can get,” the junior Kentucky Senator said in 2019 “I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia…I think she can look and maybe learn a little bit about the disaster that is Somalia. She might come back and appreciate America more.”
So it’s with that background that most Americans have simply tired of her animus, condescension, and simply out, anti-American worldview. Omar wants to change the country demographically, culturally, and politically to represent something closer to her failed nation-state of Somalia, and she does it all while saying Trump supporters are a threat to democracy.
A clip therefore circulated online from a conservative news outlet based in Minnesota on October 2nd where she was caught yet again gaslighting and disparaging patriotic Americans. The video starts with the already obscene claim that “we are better than that as Americans” while ranting about Trump’s supposed tyrannical rule. For many, while Omar is an American on paper, of course, she will never be a real American.
“We are better than that as Americans,” Omar said, referring to how parties in charge can do what they want in terms of policy. “To me, I am bothered by it because people look up to us as a country. And it’s a shame that my colleagues don’t think about, don’t think about what this makes us look like and what we are doing to ourselves.”
After the oozing hatred toward her opposition, she continued, suggesting Trump has done things so awful they can’t be undone and finishes with a swipe at everyone who voted for the 47th president. “What he has done to the country in the last eight months will not be undone for generations, because it’s one thing you know, to disregard the rule of law, the Constitution, you know, the reverence for institutions, for democracy. It’s another when you now have a population that also is that way, because Trump will leave office.”
It was the dig at Americans in that last sentiment that caused outrage – who is she to tell Americans what they want or what is good – but then she mocked the notion of Trump dying. “Well, I mean, he ain’t gonna live forever, at least, you know, he’s in his like, almost 80 or in his 80s, so even if he does force a dictatorship, hopefully, you know, maybe that will not last too long.”
Then, knowing exactly what she was saying and how the conservative right would respond, she pretended as if those comments would be taken out of context. “Oh, Fox News is going to have so much I’m not saying anybody should take him out,” she clarified, despite making it after two failed assassination attempts and the recent Charlie Kirk murder. “Like, do not misconstrue what I’m saying. I’m just saying he’s getting older.”
Not done, Omar then lectured Americans on Constitutional principles and morality. “How do we contend with the public that has now come to know America under his leadership that you know could benefit from reading the Constitution and that’s the worry and that and when nations struggle, that struggle is not overnight, and it’s not with the leader. Is the changing of the population and the way in which they think, the way they look at government, and the way that they look at their neighbor.”
“And not only do we have to fight the Trump administration for what they’re doing, but we also have to find a way for the American public to go back in their minds and hearts in caring about this nation and its survival,” she finishes.
