Woke Protestant Churches Proclaim Transgenderism ‘Holy’ And ‘Sacred’ In Stunning Rebuke Of Catholic Bishops

In a stunning response to American Catholic bishops voting to ban certain so-called transgender procedures at affiliated hospitals, a coalition of progressive church leaders announced that transgenderism, among other identities, was ‘holy.’ A lengthy statement was released by heads of liberal Protestant denominations and other religious communities in a statement titled ‘Heads of Major American Religious Traditions Issue Landmark Statement Supporting Trans, Intersex and Nonbinary People.’

Included as signatories to the statement were leaders from the Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church, the United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Universalist Association, the Union for Reform Judaism, and the association of Quakers.

“During a time when our country is placing their lives under increasingly serious threat, there is a disgraceful misconception that all people of faith do not affirm the full spectrum of gender – a great many of us do. Let it be known instead that our beloveds are created in the image of God – Holy and whole,” opened the woke cadre of faith leaders for the fallen institutions.

There is no missing the irony in penning a statement that supports the notion transgenderism is ‘holy and whole’ since all people are born in the image of God, and yet individuals seeking transgender care are outright rejecting their own image and making one for themselves while demanding surgery to make themselves whole.

The statement then explains how the various faith communities disagree on religious philosophy but come together when social justice causes arise. “Our scriptures vary, but they share a common conviction. As we make justice our aim we must give voice to those who are silenced. Our shared values, held across many faiths, teach us that we are all children of God and that we must cultivate a discipline of hope, especially in difficult times.”

“As such, we raise our voices in solidarity to unequivocally proclaim the holiness of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people, as well as the recognition of the entire spectrum of gender identity and expression,” the statement continues.

Concluding its intense rhetoric and questionable Christian defense, the statement makes an appeal to community and suggests anyone opposed is acting out in oppressive, violative manners and must not have good reasons for doing so. “When people of faith and conscience stay silent in the face of oppression, we are all made less whole. When people of faith and conscience speak out against that which violates the sacred in its own name, we have the power to stay the hand of sin.

“Transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people are vulnerable today. Our faiths, our theologies, and our practices of prophetic witness call on us to say with one voice to transgender people among us: ‘You are holy. You are sacred. We love you. We support you, and we will protect you.’”

The impetus for such a letter came as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) voted to reject transgender care at Catholic hospitals. While not turning anyone away at the door – obviously – there was a rejection of doctors in these facilities to have to go through with procedures meant to affirm transgenderism. In part, they agreed that they “must not perform interventions, whether surgical or chemical, that aim to transform the sexual characteristics of a human body into those of the opposite sex, or take part in the development of such procedures.”

The Associated Press covered the official change, which dates back several years as positions were being clarified under a treatise titled ‘Moral Limits to the Technological Manipulation of the Human Body,’ on November 12th, 2025. The woke churches, likely prepared for such a vote, released their statement on the same day. “U.S. Catholic bishops voted Wednesday to make official a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender patients at Catholic hospitals. The step formalizes a yearslong [sic] process for the U.S. church to address transgender health care,” the A.P. wrote.
