A Tennessee youth pastor with a knack for rubbing elbows with and evangelizing celebrities opened up about Ozzy Osbourne’s engagement with the Bible and salvation of Christ leading up to his final days. Dylan Novak, who by his own estimates has spoken to more than 2,000 “well-known figures” about Christ – including President Donald Trump and numerous Hollywood A-listers, revealed the touching story about Osbourne in a recent interview.
Novak said his passion for spreading the Word began as a teenager when he attended various conventions, famously the popular Comic Con events. He said he ended up talking to celebrity guests about faith, and that eventually transformed into a program where he regularly evangelizes to the world’s most famous celebrities. In addition to his celebrity work he serves as a youth pastor in Tennessee.
The Bible guru for celebrities also noted that celebrities in particular would be his focus after he read at a young age the story of ‘Superman’ actress Margo Kidder’s atheism. Despite having fame and fortune, at the end of the day they were people just like everyone else, and it saddened him that they would throw away eternal salvation for fleeting moments of passion or success.
“Reality hit me one day that these celebrities, these people that we admire, these people that have brought us so much joy through the years with their entertainment work, their souls, just like you, just like me, who are on their way to heaven or hell,” he relayed in an interview with Fox News Digital. In addition to now talking to celebrities about their faith, Novak also brings a personalized gift bag that includes a Bible with their name on it and a handwritten letter from him that touches on comments he’s seen or heard them make.
It was this work that led Novak to Ozzy Osbourne in 2023. Never without his homework and research, Novak said he’d seen the rock’n’roller’s comments in a magazine interview that said Christianity was oftentimes inaccessible due to the esoteric language in older versions of the Bible. As such, when the time came to meet the aging rockstar, he brought with him a New Believer’s Bible, a more modern translation which addressed those aforementioned concerns.
Upon receiving the Bible, Osborne turned to the Gospels and told him, “I can actually understand this.” A few weeks later, the son of Ozzy thanked him for giving the gift of Christ to his father. According to his son Jack, the paternal Ozzy Osbourne would spend copious amounts of time reading the Bible and discussing it with his family. He said he also kept it available to show to visitors.
“We don’t always know this side of heaven how that ended up,” Novak said of the encounter and subsequent religious development. “I pray Ozzy made a decision to accept and follow Christ. As a result of God’s perfect timing, so many people were praying for Ozzy leading up to his passing. So many people came to know Christ as a result.”
“We had, no exaggeration, hundreds of people emailing us asking us for gospel information, saying, ‘Can you send me some of the material that you gave to Ozzy? I’m an old rocker, I rejected Christ years ago. But if Ozzy was willing to look at it, I’m willing to look at it.’ People saying, ‘I want to be saved’ and that is just so beautiful to see.”
