A Philippine family’s discovery of a surviving Bible amidst absolute carnage from a devastating house fire has gone viral for the ineffable power of supernatural forces and relatable miraculousness experienced by so many people. The incredible footage shows a young woman pulling out a nearly intact Bible from a burnt room, leading many commenters on the social media post to relay their own encounters with the divine.
“MIRACULOUS DISCOVERY: A Catholic woman in the Philippines discovers her family’s Bible survived a fire that burned nearly all of their belongings,” the video was captioned by Fox News. Layered perfectly with beautiful music, it slowly reveals the woman combing through destroyed remnants of their house before scraping away torched items to expose a barely-affected Bible. Only the outer edges displayed any sign of fire damage; as she flipped through the pages viewers saw the incredible results.
The video prompted thousands of comments, many of which shared similar tales of surprise and mystery at the protection afforded holy tomes among otherwise destructive forces. “My grandmother [sic] trailer burnt down…. everything gone except her bed. It wasn’t even scorched. On her bed laid [sic] her Bible. I would never believed it but I saw it with my own eyes,” wrote the top comment, in a nearly identical situation.
Several other comments spoke about direct experience as firefighters who witnessed the salvation of Bibles from infernos. “I’ve seen this happen as well. Responded as a firefighter to a house fire call. Everything was charred on the bookshelf except for ONE book…,” the user wrote.
“In my 25 years of fire service experience I have personally seen this on many of occasions! Bibles survive fires, crucifixes and photos of Jesus as well. It is truly an amazing sight to see,” shared another. “My husband is a retired firefighter, he could not count the Bibles he has pulled out of burned homes,” stated yet another user close to firefighting.
