Democrat Legislator Slams Own Party As Anti-Christian, Walks Away From Caucus For Betraying Her Faith

A now-former Democrat state representative slammed the party for its anti-Christian values as she walked away from its caucus entirely, citing her faith as a motivating factor while also observing how obstinate it was to meaningful change in the wake of devastating political loss.

Representative Karen Whitsett made the shocking announcement on a segment with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner on the latter’s eponymous cable news program this past January, as the results of 2024’s election were finalized through swearings-in and inaugurations. Whitsett expressed contempt for her party for allowing Michigan’s slate of 15 electors to flip to Donald Trump and losing their majority status in the state legislature.

It was then that she also announced the end of her affiliation with the party and that she would neither caucus with them nor seek another election under their banner. “I’m not going to caucus with them because of their talking points and the fact that they are disconnected. They’re still using the same rhetoric that lost in the race, so why am I going to caucus with a group that’s totally disconnected?” she feistily ranted during the program.

Continuing, she presented a shockingly refreshing take, saying she’s read whatever legislation was presented to her and decide based on her own thoughts and feelings how to vote, rather than wait for party leadership to force her hand. “I know how to read a bill, so I don’t need someone to tell me how to vote,” she said. “I’m better off just being by myself, read my bills and get things done for my district.”

Immediately following the segment, conservative social media accounts broke the news and quoted additional statements from the former Democrat. “BREAKING: Michigan Rep. Karen Whitsett (D) announces she won’t seek reelection, saying the Democratic Party does NOT align with Christian values,” the account Libs Of Tiktok posted on X.

“In the end, I have to answer to God… It’s impossible to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ while remaining a member of the Democratic Party as it exists today… I have compromised my relationship with Jesus for too long,” the posted continued, citing a powerful quote from Whitsett.

A prominent Florida journalist likewise reported the news with further commentary. “WOW! Democrat Michigan State Rep. Karen Whitsett just REFUSED to seek reelection as a Democrat because they betrayed her Christian faith. She cited abortion, LGBTQ and transgenderism as the reasons,” stated Eric Daugherty of Florida Voice News.

“It’s impossible to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ while remaining a member of the Democratic Party as it exists today…I cannot reconcile that platform with Scripture. I have compromised my relationship with Jesus for too long, and I’m grateful God did not give up on me — He gave me time to repent, turn, and be fully devoted to Him.”

“’That conviction includes the issues I cannot reconcile with Scripture: abortion, the normalization of the gay lifestyle, and the push to redefine gender.’ “This is so brutal for the left. It will keep happening. SHE MADE THE RIGHT MOVE!,” his post finished.
