After Best Actor winner Michael B. Jordan was widely praised for giving thanks to God for the lifetime achievement, the winner of the Best Original Song – Ejae, for the song ‘Golden’ in KPop Demon Hunters – likewise found a grateful community of film enjoyers for her Chris-inspired music in one of 2026’s most popular films.
For context, “Golden” made history by winning the Best Original Song award, marking the first time that a song from the genre of KPop had received this honor. Artist Ejae accepted the award at the Dolby Theater and spoke on behalf of her entire team. Ejae’s background is rooted strongly in Christianity and while the film itself does not embrace many biblical themes, the Oscar-winning song certainly does as it draws on her religious upbringing and faith.
Writing on Instagram, Hollywood Prayer Network praised the moment amid a surprisingly large number of overt Christian references in this year’s awards ceremony in woke tinseltown. “Other notable moments include Ejae accepting an award for a song with Christian-inspired themes in 2026,” a post from the account wrote.
Continuing, it said “Although we know that these award shows often celebrate themes that do not lineup with our faith in Jesus, it is not lost on us that God is bigger than the Oscar stage, and He is faithfully guiding those who love him and honor him to be in spaces where they can glorify him using their creative gifts!”
It then specifically named the acceptance speech and how the artist drew inspiration from her Christian faith. “Ejae accepted the Best Song Oscar for the “KPop Demon Hunters” hit song “Golden”. Ejae’s story, her faith, and her inspiration from the Christian Faith for many of the themes she incorporated into the film’s music, is a truly remarkable moment for us!”
“God is using these moments and so many more to inspire people, to ignite curiosity to look deeper into the background stories of those that are being celebrated on the biggest stage in the world, and ultimately, to draw people to Himself. What were your favorite moments from the show?” the account’s post ended.
Speaking on stage, Ejae wowed everyone with heartfelt, emotional remarks that come with a hard-earned, albeit surprising victory against the world’s best in entertainment. “Thank you so much to the Academy…My God, sorry, growing up. You know, people made fun of me, like in Kpop, but now they’re everyone’s singing our song and all the Korean lyrics.,” she began, trying to find words.
“I’m so proud. And I realized, like the song, this award is about not about success, it’s about resilience. And I’m just so grateful to our team, and I just want to thank, well, my mom, my dad, my brother, my fiance and my manager, of course, for always staying with me. And I also want to thank, of course, the resilient cast of K Pop demon hunters.
“Thank you so much to Maggie King and Chris Apple Hans and our producer, Michelle Wong. Thank you so much for this film. Thank you to Netflix. Thank you so my animation. Thank you for Ian…and… And is there anything else I would like to thank.”
