Speaking during the 2024 Movieguide Award Gala, its 31st annual such event, Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure, best known as of late for her leaving the Hallmark Channel over its promotion of storylines she saw as conflicting with her Christian values, particularly as regards relationships and marriage, ended the event with a prayer for those in the entertainment industry.
Beginning her prayer after saying she hoped everyone had a great time and thanking those behind the event for putting together such an amazing gala, she thanked the Lord for letting everyone gather for the event, hosted as it was by Movieguide, a Christian and faith-focused “guide to movies and entertainment,” saying, “Lord, we come before you, and we are so grateful that we are able to gather together in this room.”
Continuing, she prayed for those with the responsibility of creating and producing stories to be bold in honoring the Lord through their work, saying, “Lord, my prayer for today is that all the people in this room would be bold for you, that they would continue to be bold in their scripts and their writing and producing and directing. [That] the fear of man would not be bigger than the fear and awe and reverence of you, Lord.”
She then prayed that those who gathered for the event would, if they have not already, turn their hearts toward God and know HIm, saying, “May every person in this room know who you are. I pray that you would pursue every heart in this room and every heart that is watching this right now, pursue [them] relentlessly so that they may know your mercy and love and grace.”
Concluding, she said, “We remember that while we’re being honored and giving honor to so many, that there’s no one that deserves higher honor than you because you gave your one and only Son for all of us to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin so that we can be reconciled to you and justified before you on judgment day. We thank you Lord. I pray everyone gets home safe tonight, and I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.”

One of Bure’s coworkers at Great America Media, which is to where she went after leaving Hallmark, commented on the Gala and Movieguide. He, Bill Abbot, the President and CEO of Great American Media, said, “Movieguide® showcases and rewards content that uplifts, inspires, and encourages us all to be the best that we can be.”
Abbot continued, “We are grateful to Ted and Robby and the entire Movieguide® organization for remarkably positive contributions to our culture, and we celebrate our mutual commitment to content the entire family can watch together.”
