A queer worship leader at a woke Texas church delivered an unintentional reminder about the intrusion of secular politics in Christian institutions and the absolute speed at which many denominations have been taken over by the progressive left. The undated interview resurfaced online as Democrats and their corporate and media allies kicked off yet another annual Pride Month celebration.
Speaking to an unnamed person, the woman who identifies as queer named Crystal says she works for a large Methodist church in the northern suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth. She lamented that church had never felt safe for her on account of God’s rules for humanity and the standards he demands of us. She then celebrated the fact that she turned the church into a haven for the LGBT community, bending the church’s entire history and existence to work for her rather than conform to the pre-existing conditions God created for her in the first place.
“So my name is Crystal Stroud, and I work at First United Methodist Church of Denton, and I am a worship leader there, and the director of communications there. I’ve been working at this church for nine years, and when I started, there wasn’t a space for queer people in any church that I was aware of at that time,” the woman said.
“I was burnt out on church work as a queer person, and didn’t think that it was possible to be safe in church as a queer person, and I got invited to check out like auditions for a worship leader job and just be present in the audience and offer feedback, because First United Methodist Church of Denton wanted to start what is now open worship. We didn’t have a name for it at the time,” she continued.
“I had a lot of ideas about what kind of theology shouldn’t be in music if you’re going to intentionally make a safe space for queer people, and then they ended up hiring me to do that job, because I had great opinions, so like the Bible for me is one of my barriers sometimes to being involved in church, because the Bible is so specifically triggering to me, I don’t really enjoy anything about it, because it was weaponized for so long, so lots of barriers for sure,” she added.
Watch Crystal explain how she subverted the church below:
On their website, the Denton campus boasts of the typical woke pablum, saying it ‘cherishes diversity’ and ‘welcomes and affirms people of every age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, economic circumstance, marital status, creed, culture, and language.’
“At FUMC Denton, we are a church that is passionate about shining God’s love into every life. We are a welcoming community of faith that believes there is a place for everyone here—including you. We cherish the diversity of humanity and we welcome and affirm people of every age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, economic circumstance, marital status, creed, culture, and language. We are a church that relies on God’s grace and believes that the love of Christ compels us to care for our neighbors,” the website states.
“We believe in feeding the homeless, repairing the homes of those in need, mentoring local students, and bringing God’s love to the places in our community and in our world that need it the most. We believe that everyone is a child of God and we strive to have open hearts, open minds, and open doors to God and to each other,” it adds in the Our Beliefs section.
