AOC Mocked For Stuttering Through Speech With ‘Black Preacher Accent’ As Al Sharpton Stands Blank-Faced Begind Her
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got sharply ridiculed for her now-common pandering to black Democrat supporters as she changed her speech habits yet again while speaking to a predominantly black crowd in Washington, D.C. commemorating the 63rd anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s ‘Defend The Vote’ rally in the same location.
For context, this is not the first time AOC has been accused of altering her speech cadence and affect depending on the demographic of her audience. At once boasting Puerto Rican pride and heritage, she likewise shapeshifts into a ‘Southern Baptist Preacher’ when the moment so needs it. In 2019, she famously turned heads delivering perhaps the most robust performance to date while speaking at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. In an earlier 2026 speech, she similarly broke out her accent while supporting Justin Pearson in Memphis.
Speaking in the nation’s capital, AOC stammered through her speech, suggested of having a hard time keeping up with the words and her accent at the same time. “There is a tide rising in this country, brothers and sisters. They can put they can put obstacles in our path, but they cannot turn us back around. And this November, the first of many tides is coming, coming to respond to every right they are trying to take, and it is coming to fulfill the promise that hundreds of 1000s of heroes carried to these grounds six decades ago,” she said.
“It is now our turn to summon that collective genius, to look beyond the limits of this one moment, and to see further, to demand more, and to organize toward the future we know is possible, the tide is coming, and this time we intend to win it all,” she continued. And in the infamous 2019 appearance, she completely leaned into her alter-ego. “I’m proud to be a bartender. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with working retail, folding clothes for other people to buy. There is nothing wrong with preparing the food that your neighbors will eat. There is nothing wrong with driving the busses that take your family to work. There is nothing wrong with being a working person in the United States of America, and there is everything dignified about it,” she said at the time.
“I, in fact, am encouraged when people remind the country of my past, not because of anything about my story, but because it communicates that if I could work in a restaurant and become a member of the United States Congress, so can you. So can you. What we need to do in radically deep problems is propose radically visionary solutions. Because radical doesn’t mean crazy. Radical means addressing the root, addressing the rot, and that is why we have proposed a Green New Deal for the future of America,” she finished.
