A recently-divorced country music star candidly shared the experience of hanging onto faith amid the life-altering process of divorce. Karen Waldrup, 39, announced in early 2026 that she and her husband of just over five years were separating in a painful special media post, recounting how she slept with a Bible next to her every night and eventually writing a new single about ‘Keeping The Faith.’
For context, Karen Waldrup wed Cody Henson, five years her junior, in September of 2020. The two met at a Nashville bar and, by then, she was established in the country music genre, having produced viral content on social media and was later launched into stardom with a single inspired by the discovery of an unfaithful partner. In 2024, she became a Top 5 finalist on ‘The Voice.’
Though details on what precipitated the divorce are scarce, Waldrup says it was a ‘very challenging time’ in the fall of 2025. By February of 2026, she finally shared publicly the full extent of her ended relationship. “After a lot of time, reflection, and prayer, I’m ready to share that my marriage has ended in divorce. This has been a deeply personal journey, and I’ve taken the time I needed to process it privately. I’m grateful for the love, grace, and support around me, and I appreciate kindness as I continue to move forward,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
Several months after that short post, she sat down with Fox News Digital to discuss upcoming new singles – which were both inspired by and recorded during the waning days of her marriage in the fall of 2025 – as well as the foundation of faith that got her through the darkness of starting over again.
“‘Keeping The Faith’ is one of the songs that I’m most proud of in my career. It’s really a song. It’s not just keeping the faith. It’s keeping the hope. It’s keeping the dream. It’s keeping the optimism. And I tracked keeping the faith during a very very challenging time in my life. I went through a divorce in the fall of 2025, and I know a lot of people watching right now have either gone through it themselves, are going through it currently, or maybe will go through it, and it’s not something that any of us ever expect to go through,” she discussed.
“It’s something that we all think that you know our love is lifelong, and that would never happen. And it’s just so awful, and it’s so heartbreaking, and it just kind of takes over your life. And it was a really tough time for me, and I was making a record. And so that day that we tracked keeping the faith, I was very heartbroken,” she said.
“And whenever we were tracking it, I thought, “Oh my gosh, this might not come out good. My voice might sound shaky. Maybe it’s going to be dry from the crying. And what ended up happening was, and this is pretty amazing, almost the exact opposite thing happened. Like the pain and suffering and heartbreak kind of came out in the vocal, and there’s a bridge on the song that says, ‘there’s a reason I’m still standing here stronger than I ever knew,’ and I really believe in that,” she continued.
“tI was during the process of going through divorce. I was listening to a lot of podcasts trying to understand healing through divorce, and one of the podcasts that I listened to that I thought was really really helpful, it was one that they said, you know, humans overcome divorce; they get through it. You know, life moves on, and it doesn’t take people down. There’s other things in life that are way worse, and so I thought that was really powerful,” she shared of her ability to overcome the heartache and abrupt change.
“So if you’re watching this today and you’re going through that, or you have gone through it, and you’re feeling like you want you to keep the faith. You got to keep believing that life moves on. Life is short. I’m sorry it happened. I’m sorry it happened to me. I’m sorry it happened to anyone watching. But life moves on, and keeping the faith is that it’s about getting up every day and believing that God has a plan, a purpose, and that it’s all going to be okay,” she finished.
