A pastor at the same church often cited as far-left Senate candidate James Talarico’s, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, featured a pastor who admitted to feeling distraught over the use of male pronouns to describe God by another man preaching, saying she couldn’t even hear the message being presented because she was so caught up in the he’s and hims and fathers.
For context, the Austin, Texas-based church has long been steeped in issues revolving around what the left calls social justice. Ahead of the 2026 midterms, James Talarico’s attendance at the church has come under scrutiny for the ulta-progressive views held by senior leadership, in addition to allegations made by his Republican opponent suggesting the large church harbors illegal aliens and has a congregation full of atheists.
Perhaps worst of all, the church came under intense fire after a video leaked in mid-September of 2026 revealing one the more senior ministers admits to not knowing whether Jesus lived or not, died for our sins, and likewise rejected the idea that he rose from the dead. The bizarre undercover video revealed just how radical the church really is.
In any event, an unidentified woman in another controversial video revealed that men speaking with male pronouns to describe other males in a church setting was too overwhelming for her. “Some years ago, a couple of women I’m close to invited me to come listen to their new minister. They were so excited about him, and so they asked me to come listen, and I did. They loved his preaching,” she began.
“I went and I listened, and here’s where St. Andrews ruins you for most other places. We don’t use gender language about God here for good reason, and so when you’ve been here a while and you go somewhere else, the contrast can be stark, and that’s all I could hear that day sitting in the pews. He, Father, Lord, he, him, he. I couldn’t even hear his message. After church, we went back to their house,” she said.
“I had lunch with them, and they were eager to hear what I thought. I didn’t want to disappoint them, and I tried to be as gentle and kind as I couldn’t. I said yes. Yeah, he’s a good speaker. But honestly, I was just really distracted by all the male language for God. That’s too reductive. That’s us trying to put the indescribable into a box. Why do people get so offended by female images of God, so defensive of the image they have made of God, I think they think they’re defending God, but really they’re defending themselves against that threat,” she continued.
And where do exclusively male images for the divine lead us? They lead us to women being considered less sacred. Just look at online culture and the ways in which women are demeaned and humiliated on a daily basis, by content creators,” she went on.
