Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) took aim at the Democrat Senate candidate, and megachurch founder and pastor, from Kansas for previous sermons denying the exclusivity of believing that Christ both died and defeated death so that we could be saved. Cruz’s comments against Adam Hamilton came as the crucial midterms were just days ahead in the tightly-contested battle for the Republican incumbent Roger Marshall’s seat.
“He had an eye chart, and he said, ‘When we get to heaven, he said Christians will see really clearly, so Christians will get to heaven.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, good. We’re on the same page right now.’ But then he said, “Everyone else.’ He preaches a sermon about everyone else. He said, ‘Muslims, they see the same eye chart. It’s just a little fuzzier,’” Cruz began of Hamilton’s past remarks.
“And he says, ‘when we get to heaven, there will be Muslims, and we can hug and embrace them, and they will be welcomed in heaven.’ Interesting idea. We show up there in heaven. First thing you see is Osama bin Laden, and he claims from the pulpit, which to me is even worse. From the pulpit, he says Jesus is one way to get to heaven, but he’s not the only way,” he continued.
“Now look, when it comes to Christianity, you can have differences of views. There are doctrinal distinctions. I’m a Baptist, but you can have a fight. Do you baptize people? Do you dunk or do you sprinkle? I’m fine. We can go back and forth and argue about it. I mean, heck, Christians have been arguing for 2000 years, so that’s fine. Those distinctions, at the end of the day, I don’t think have enormous consequences.
But I’ll tell you what goes straight to the heart of Christianity. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.” If you take that out of the gospel, there ain’t nothing left,” he finished. Watch Cruz call out the woke preacher-turned Senate candidate below:
Hamilton’s sermon has been circulating widely since it resurfaced during the campaign. “I’ve spent a lot of my life studying different world, and you find some get you a little closer. The image begins to become clear, like this picture on the screen, and then you study another one, you find it gets even clearer. You you suddenly see that that the image becomes even more in focus, and so for me, as I’ve studied different world religions, I sit in the chair and I’m I’m looking through these different lenses, and when I finally got to that last one, when I finally got to Jesus and, it was like I I could see clearly the clearest that I had seen,” he declared in the sermon.
“And when it comes to other faiths, I believe as a Christian that they are going to when they get to heaven they’re going to see Jesus and they’re going to say Ah, it was you all the all along that I was searching for, but I don’t fear that those folks will spend eternity in hell,” he said.
