Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, drew fire from leftists online after he reposted a simple Christ-centered statement from conservative activist Charlie Kirk, but the QB refused to back down despite the online backlash, garnering support from Kirk himself.

For background, on August 17, 2025, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk posted the words, “It’s all about Jesus,” on his X account, and Jackson showed his support and agreement with a repost. In response, commenters ripped into the quarterback for his willingness to associate with Kirk, who is seen as a figurehead for the MAGA movement.

After Jackson openly displayed his faith by reposting Kirk’s statement, commenters ripped into the NFL star and Charlie Kirk. One wrote, “Kirk is outright racist and would easily throw Lamar to the cotton fields,” adding, “It’s so tone deaf.” Another chimed in, “Lamar Jackson out here retweeting Charlie Kirk. Hope he continues to choke in the playoffs.”

During a 2023 interview with Sports Spectrum, the quarterback spoke in detail about how his faith in God plays into his football career, saying, “It is not about what people say. … It is about believing in yourself at the end of the day.” He added, “Keeping God first because without Him, there is no Lamar Jackson. I’m gonna tell you that now. “I kept Him first at all times no matter what I went through. … I just kept my faith with Him, and now we’re here.”

Continuing, Jackson said that no matter what a person does in life, success is dependent on faith. He said, “You’ve got to keep God first. Pray to God, and you’ve got to be consistent with God,” adding, “It’s not like making a wish, like seeing a shooting star and just making a wish. You’ve got to be consistent when you’re praying to God.”

Additionally, Jackson also praised God after a major Ravens victory in 2024, saying he wanted to thank “God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that’s why we’re having so much success. That’s the One that’s leading us throughout these games, week in and week out.” Later, while accepting the Heisman Trophy, Jackson said, “First and foremost, before I go further along in my speech, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” adding, “Without Him, none of us would be here right now.”

After Jackson stood his ground against the woke backlash for his X post, Charlie Kirk took to X once again to show his support for the quarterback. On August 17, Kirk reposted an article about Jackson facing “heavy criticism for reposting a post from right-wing political personality Charlie Kirk,” writing, “Jesus is the way, truth, and life.”
