Candace Cameron Bure is the actress who famously left the Hallmark Channel over what she saw as content that did not comport with her Christian faith, and then joined the Great American Family Channel to create, promote, and spread Christian content. She is now the chief content officer at Great American Family. She also, however, has spread the Christian faith at the individual level, helping convert her friend Danica McKellar to Christianity and guiding her on her faith journey.
Bure recently spoke about that friendship and how it led to faith, saying that McKellar’s faith journey has been incredible. Further, she added that being able to look at McKellar’s conversion and see that working so hard to promote the faith was paying off is incredibly meaningful and special, particularly since she knows how much it will help her friend.
She said, speaking about McKellar’s faith journey and growth as a Christian, “It’s been incredible. It humbles me when anyone finds the joy and love in Jesus that I know of, and so many people know of.” She added, speaking about how wonderful it is to see proselytizing had an impact, “But when it’s someone that you didn’t even quite realize was searching and you had an impact, it’s even more special.”
Bure then commented on how her friend’s faith journey began, noting that it was McKellar’s willingness to ask questions that led to her ultimately converting to Christianity and welcoming God into her heart. Bure said, “I’m glad she just asked me questions, that was like the most amazing thing she was willing and open to ask and start her journey.”

As background, McKellar announced that she had accepted Jesus into her heart thanks to Bure in 2023. She said that Bure took her to church and that experience helped her shed her previous suspicions of Christianity, which she realized were false after listening to Bure and attending. McKellar has been developing in her faith since that moment.
Speaking about Christianity at the time, she noted that the love of God is open to everyone who decides to believe in him, saying, “What’s so amazing about it is that it’s actually available to everyone – it’s available to everyone. And the price of admission, it’s just a decision.”
Continuing, she said that it’s not living perfectly that matters, as doing so is impossible, but rather having faith in Him and following Him. She said, “It’s not even living your life perfectly, because none of us are going to do that. … I’m just sharing my journey that I’ve been on literally only for like the last two weeks, that I have been going to church and been finding a lot of amazing love and peace and purpose. And it’s blowing my mind.”
Captioning the video, she wrote, “Hey everyone! I went live today to share the journey I’ve recently embarked on…🙏 I’m not here to preach, but I have so much love in my heart I just had to share what I’m experiencing, and to share a little why I believe it’s taken me up to this point to begin this journey. ❤️”
She added, “In my life, starting in childhood, I had been made aware of all the hypocrisy in the various religions of Christianity, it being used for evil, power & control throughout history, and that had definitely biased me. But that’s just people, that doesn’t represent God’s actual love for us. And I can tell you I’m experiencing a relationship with God and Jesus that I’ve never had before, and it feels miraculous. And it all started one evening when I was struggling with the idea of forgiveness and DM’d my good friend @candacecbure about a passage from the Bible she had read on her instastories, and then she sent me a Bible, and invited me to church…🥰 I am wishing all of you the love & freedom I feel in my heart on this journey, and a beautiful Sunday!! ❤️🙏❤️”
