Famous actress and outspoken Christian Candace Cameron Bure recently promoted the Christian virtue of being generous and joyfully giving to those in need, whether through one’s financial resources or other spiritual gifts. Bure posted a video on her Instagram that provided advice, stating, “Here are 3 ways to be generous today,” listing several practices.
Bure’s recommendations included, “Open the door for a stranger, Give your time and serve, Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while and lend a listening ear.” It’s important to note that being generous doesn’t have to solely come from financial stewardship. “We usually always put generosity into the ‘money or things’ category… as in that’s the only way you can TRULY be generous. But really generosity is so much more than money and belongings,” Bure wrote in an Instagram post’s caption. “We can be generous with our thoughts, words, time, influence, and attention too!”
She continued offering more inspiring advice: “When we take the time to notice a stranger, spend time helping others, or even give our friends the support they need, we are being generous! 💞”. She further emphasized how important it is to be intentional with generosity. “The more we intentionally practice generosity, the more it becomes part of who we are and radiates to those around us.”
The Christian Tribune recently reported on other comments from Bure, in which she discussed the ever-increasing strength in her marriage with her husband, Valeri. The actress noted that a relationship will inevitably have its ups and downs, but perseverance through times of trouble strengthens a relationship.
“The love has grown over the years. When you really do go through the depths of the valley, and you come back out on top as many times as you go through that roller coaster of life – within marriage, every time you come back on top it’s like another notch in the belt of commitment, staying together,” she said.
Moreover, Bure touched on her Christian faith, explaining how crucial it is to put God at the forefront of a relationship. As she points out, the Bible has a “blueprint” for how marriages should be structured to align with the word of God. The actress, who serves as a great role model for Christians compared to the rest of secular Hollywood, explains that honoring God with all your actions should be the most important objective.
“Marriage is so wonderful. And yet there are so many ups and downs over the years,” she said. “I’ve said it before, but the secret has not just been the commitment to God and the blueprint that God provides us biblically within a marriage, but it’s honoring one another. And in that, even when I may not, he may not deserve it, we honor each other, because it’s honoring God. And I think that’s where the focus is for us. That we honor God in all our actions first and foremost, but that is an outpouring of the love that we share together whether we really feel like it or not at the moment.”
