Famous actor Chuck Norris recently offered godly advice for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or other forms of poor mental health. As rates of depression have soared in the United States, Norris urged Americans to focus on two foundational values: faith and family. The famous octogenarian actor has made headlines in recent months for the positive advice he has been giving to those in need.
Sharing the wisdom the 84-year-old has acquired over the years, Norris pointed out that life will always have its trials and tribulations. In light of this, the actor encouraged people to let go of their worries and trust God during these impermanent season of life.
“Worries and anxiety will haunt you ‘until the cows come home,’” Norris said. “Let go and let God…Troubles come and troubles go, but we don’t need to focus on them when there is so much right and good going on in our lives and even the world every minute. Where’s our focus and hope? In our supply or the divine Supplier who has promised to provide?”
Chuck also suggested that introducing animals into one’s life is a great solution to overcoming to negative emotions. “God’s greatest gifts to us come in the form of our relationships. Don’t take one for granted, with two legs or four,” he continued.
During struggles, Norris encouraged people to dig deep and persevere. “If you’ve been successful, odds are it didn’t come because you were born with a silver spoon,” he said. “The hard work we hated as kids made us who we are today, right? It’s still true: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Grit and perseverance still win the gold!”
The Christian Tribune previously reported on comments from Norris, encouraging unhappy Americans to put their trust in God. The actor pointed out that putting God at the center of one’s life is the ultimate solution for all struggles.
Quoting Thomas Brooks, Norris said, “Nothing can make that man truly miserable that hath God for his portion, nor nothing can make that man truly happy that [lacks] God for his portion. God is the author of all true happiness; he is the donor of all true happiness; he is the maintainer of all true happiness, and he is the centre of all true happiness. … He that hath him for his God, for his portion, is the only happy man in the world.”
Citing wisdom from the Bible, Norris illustrated how we shouldn’t place our trust in the fleeting offerings of materialism. “Do not put your hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God who richly provides us with all things to enjoy [or be happy].” Norris concluded, “America’s founders understood that spiritual fact. That is why they stated it among our unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence: We are ‘endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’”
