A group of conservative organizations is calling for Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to expose a pattern of anti-Christian bias in the administration of former President Biden, who has been accused of targeting peaceful groups and labeling them “violent extremists.”
For background, in a press release published on July 17, 2025, the organization Advancing American Freedom (AAF) announced that it was leading a coalition of conservative organizations to urge Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to release documents confirming the presence of systemic anti-Christian bias within the Biden administration.
In its press release, the AAF explained that it had joined several other organizations in sending a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the DOJ and the FBI, calling for records related to former President Biden’s administration targeting Christians. The request was notably a follow-up to a previous letter; the AAF wrote: “Our request was denied in February, and we were disappointed by a highly redacted, already public document in June.”
Moreover, the request pointed to information revealed by Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who, in June 2025, uncovered the infamous “Richmond Memo,” an FBI document that confirmed the targeting of Catholics” based on biased sources.” The AAF wrote, “Thanks to new evidence uncovered by Senator Grassley, we know more…documents exist than previously admitted.”
Explaining the lack of available evidence further, the AAF wrote in its press release, “The DOJ has a legal responsibility to comply with and enforce the FOIA law.” The release continued, “The Biden Administration, in response to our initial request, said that it had no responsive documents, likely because, as we found out later, the FBI thought it had destroyed the relevant documents.”
However, the AAF clarified that “further evidence” suggests that the Biden administration “failed to destroy the paper trail,” adding, “We urge the Trump administration to provide us with these documents so that the American people can hold the FBI accountable for its treatment of religious groups.”
Importantly, in June 2025, Sen. Grassley also called for the release of additional information related to the Biden administration’s anti-Christian bias. The senator wrote, “I’m determined to get to the bottom of the Richmond memo, and of the FBI’s contempt for oversight in the last administration.”
Continuing, Sen. Grassley said, “I look forward to continuing to work with you to restore the FBI to excellence and prove once again that justice can and must be fairly and evenly administered, blind to whether we are Democrats or Republicans, believers or nonbelievers.”
