Recently, Sadie Robertson Huff illustrated how the Christian church is called to set an example for the world in the darkest of times. During a recent discussion with Crosswalk Headlines, the Duck Dynasty star explained what Jesus Christ called his followers to do in these challenging times.
“Jesus said to us that we are called to be the light of the world. We’re called to be a city on a hill — not to dim our lights and hide under the sand, but actually shine them so that God gets the glory,” she said. “So I think it’s really tempting when the world gets darker to want to hide. But if you want the world to be brighter, you’re literally called to be a light. We are the solution as the church. Take on Jesus’ words.”
In a time where technology has made content of all varieties readily accessible to all, it can become easy to be consumed with things that lead one away from God. Particularly in the age of social media with addicting infinite scrolls, users can be sucked into toxic rabbit holes.
“You’re in control of your social media…You get to decide what you post; you decide what you look at. And so, I think you have to take ownership and say, okay, I’m going to follow the people who are leading me to Christ, and I’m gonna post the things that lead others to Christ as well,” Huff said.
Further explaining how social media can be deceptive toward its users, the Duck Dynasty personality said in a recent Instagram post, “I think that’s the thing we have to realize…the picture can never display the full picture. The caption can never articulate the fullness of a 24/7 reality.”
Huff maintained that a focus on God is crucial to attained is grace. “And that is something that each of us are gonna have to do daily to receive that grace and that strength from God to get through. But God is so good. And His presence in your life can truly get you through those hard times.”
The Christian Tribune previously reported on the Christian comments from another Duck Dynasty star, Phil Robertson, who expressed his excitement for God’s “eternal kingdom.” Robertson said, “I’m fired up about being in a kingdom. We have an invisible king, but He’s all over the earth, and the kingdom is growing, and it’s been tried to wipe it out over and over and over, but we’re all still here.”
He added, “This doesn’t just encourage me — it gets me fired up. I hope it does the same for you. We’re part of an eternal kingdom that will never expire and can never be crushed. The evil one has tried time and time again to wipe it out, but he never will. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, and he will always triumph.”
The famous duck hunter further stated, “It amazes me how many people show up at our church to get baptized and say it’s because they heard about Jesus on our Unashamed podcast. That’s the Lord’s doing, not mine. But getting to show you who he is and what he’s done for us is something I don’t take for granted.”
