Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson Explains How Failings of Modern Culture is Driving Some to God

“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson recently spoke about the current state of society and why he believes the chaos plaguing Western culture is driving many people to a relationship with God. According to Robertson, the spiritual emptiness and disorder found in modernity are cultivating an interest in the Christian faith.

Robertson illustrated a problem plaguing the Christian community, where many in the younger generations are turning to the secular ways of the world.  He explained that many people were not on the “right mission” where some believed they could simply attend church and attempt to be a “good person,” when true Christian faith is much deeper.

The “Duck Dynasty” star told CBN News, “Our kids are leaving … they’re taking off [and] being gobbled up by the world. And, so, we’re like, ‘What happened?’ And I think it’s because … a lot of people just weren’t on the right mission. They thought the mission was just … [that we’re] supposed to go to church when we can and try to be a good person.”

“When the bar’s lowered on that mission, and that’s not what Jesus said do, well, don’t be surprised when you look up and everybody’s just gone,” Robertson said, emphasizing there is a much greater calling for the followers of Christ.

Robertson highlighted how, in the emptiness of modern times, people are beginning to realize that the material offerings of our world don’t deliver what they promise.  “People are searching,” he said. “They’ve seen what the world has to offer and it’s just empty.”  He added that some people are subsequently looking at the Gospel and thinking, “Maybe there’s something to this.”

The famous duck hunter specifically addressed how politics has essentially become a religion in and of itself in America.  However, this contradicts what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has commissioned us to do as his followers.

“I think people have put their stock in politics and … we’re like, ‘Have we just got the right person in there who’s a Christian and does all the Christian things?’” he added. “We’re not even called to do that. “[In] the Great Commission, [Jesus] didn’t say, ‘Go change your countries and make sure you got the right politicians.’ That wasn’t the mission.”  Robertson explained, “The mission was to make disciples, baptize people, and to teach people.”

Robertson offered inspiring words for those who feel discouraged about their ability to fulfill this command from Jesus.  “Even if you’re at the deadest church in whatever little dead town you’re in, you can create revival right there,” Robertson said. “Just get out and start doing it. You can start with the people … your family, your friends, your kids.”

The Christian Tribune also reported on comments from fellow “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson who expressed his faith and anticipation to be a part of God’s eternal kingdom.  “I’m fired up about being in a kingdom. We have an invisible king, but He’s all over the earth, and the kingdom is growing, and it’s been tried to wipe it out over and over and over, but we’re all still here,” Robertson
