David Beezer, a high school football coach, was on vacation with his family when God saved him from a life-threatening situation. He was boating on the Colorado River, when he struck a newly formed sandbar at over 40mph. Beezer credits God for his miraculous survival and for guiding his unlikely recovery. He thanked the prayers of his church for aiding his recovery.
“So we went from just going full speed, you know, with a boat full of people just having a great time, to zero within just a few feet, the full force of the collision was right on my neck”, he explained.”I’d hit the steering wheel right at my voice box and airway. And immediately I could feel it was becoming difficult to breathe. My first concern was my family and my kids.”
“But the inability to really, I physically couldn’t really do anything. Because I was in really bad shape, I knew that I was in trouble,” Beezer added.“That was the time that, you know, that you really cry out to God and say, you know, I can’t do this. And I’m going to need You to see us through this. You know, whatever God’s plan was, that I was okay with it and the only way that I could have peace was knowing that I knew Who held my future.”
He says it was an act of God that his wife was able to reach the authorities. The Coach explained that cellphones don’t have coverage in that area. “… We’ve been in that area a lot and could never get a cell phone to work from that area,” he stated. The call went through, and police were dispatched immediately. However, Beezer was in critical condition and needed aid.
Thankfully, an off-duty officer was near the crash and decided to help. “If the sheriff, if the off-duty sheriff that came for me had not come, with certainty I would’ve died on the boat in front of my kids,” Beezer reported. he was flown to a hospital and intubated quickly. When he woke up, the doctor told him there was only one thing that could explain his survival.
. “….There’s only one reason you’re alive. G-O-D”, Beezer quoted the doctor. “Just the prayers of school family, church family, just the outpouring of love. You never really realize how much you’re loved until you go through a situation like this,” he concluded. The Christian Tribune reported on a well-loved pastor who tragically died after being attacked by a shark while spearfishing off the coast of Central Queensland, Australia. An hour after the attack, Luke Walford, 40, succumbed to his injuries. The attack occurred while Walford was engaged in one of his favorite pastimes.
The Cathedral of Praise Church commemorated Walford’s life and dedication to the congregation in a heartfelt tribute shared on Facebook. Tributes have come in from friends, family, and members of the wider community, reflecting the deep impact he had made through his ministry. The pastor had devoted nine years of his life to ministry.
“He was attacked by a shark while doing something he loved – spearfishing, a passion that was passed down to him by his father,” the memorial read. “He was truly a beloved figure, especially among our young people, children, and the entire congregation.” Walford was highly regarded for his leadership and his ability to connect with people of all ages.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said, “We don’t respond to these very often, but when we do, they are unique incidents that require us to work with other services to bring the patient to the hospital in a timely manner.” She went on to say, “We were lucky in this case, as shark bites can be significant, but we were able to transport him with minor to moderate injuries on this occasion.”
