A former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback who was mocked and snubbed for his overt displays of Christianity – all while other woke athletes were being praised for demonstrating similar religious beliefs – revealed a damning map showcasing the extent of crimes against children in highly disturbing congressional testimony.
Tim Tebow, whose Christian faith has been a central point of his identity since his playing days, said he felt called by God to now focus his fame and faith to combat one of the most disgusting features of contemporary society. Specifically, Tebow has energized a movement hoping to combat and confront trafficking organizations that prey on and abuse minors.
“Tim Tebow reveals he is pushing so hard to save victims of child s*x crimes because God called him to,” the Facebook page Red Wave captioned in a meme while summarizing Tebow’s incredible, albeit horrific, testimony. In the hearing, while it was beyond dismaying to hear of so many instances of abuse and victimization, it also brought hope that good people throughout the country were organizing to stop it.
“Tim Tebow’s powerful words remind us what true purpose looks like. He could have rested on football fame, but instead he answered a higher calling to rescue the most vulnerable among us—innocent children trapped in the horrors of sexual exploitation. This is faith put into action, not just words,” Red Wave wrote in a March 4th post on the social media behemoth, shortly after Tebow’s appearance before a Senate committee had concluded.
“In a world that often ignores or downplays these evils, Tim stands boldly before lawmakers and on national television, exposing the staggering reality: tens of thousands of kids victimized, with predators hiding in plain sight across our own communities. His foundation and efforts like supporting the Renewed Hope Act show what real leadership demands—confronting darkness head-on to protect the innocent,” it continued.
“We need more voices like his, willing to get uncomfortable so these boys and girls can finally know safety, hope, and love. Thank God for men who use their God-given strength not for personal glory, but to lift up the image-bearers of our Creator who are crying out for rescue. Keep fighting, Tim,” the post concluded.
For context, Tebow appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 3rd for a hearing titled ‘Lost and Exploited: Confronting Child Trafficking and the Failure to Protect America’s Most Vulnerable.’ During a memorable interaction with Missouri’s Republican Senator Hawley, he discussed how rampant the issue was while explaining a map of known instances of content being downloaded, shared, or distributed. The map was basically covered in red dots of every known site where this was occurring.
Hawley set up Tebow to describe the horrors by having his team present a poster featuring a map of the United States and red dots. “Let me put up another poster that you reference and ask you to explain what it is. It’s a diagram of the United States, a map of the United States with these pinpoints all over it. Can you tell us what this image depicts?” he queried of Tebow before handing the response over to him.
“Yeah, that’s a DOJ database, and every one of those red dot maps is a unique IP address that is downloaded, shared or distributing child rape images, almost all under the age of 12. And that’s just a six month screenshot of it. And there are over 338,000 on there. And if you could also look, there’s blue dots on there. You can’t really see them, but the blue ones are the ones that are under investigation,” Tebow explained.
Tebow was then asked about Operation Renewed Hope, which aims to address the exploitation and abuse of children. He said, “It’s bringing together law enforcement and victim identification specialists from all over the world to work together in the same room with the best technology and the best training. And it’s amazing what happens when you do that, to be able to see the results operation.”
