Speaking in a short but powerful video posted to Instagram, IndyCar driver Sting Ray Robb prayed for his fans and spoke out in a powerful proclamation of faith, a hope-filled message about the Gospel and God that hopefully inspired those who watched and helped lead some to the faith. This was not Robb’s first time speaking out about his faith, but it was a particularly heartwarming clip.
In it, Robb firs reads from the Gospel and then speaks about the passage and relates it to normal life, showing how the wise words in John can help give a little light and boost to those who need it during a dark time and help them follow the light of Jesus.
Beginning with the Gospel passage, Robb said, “Today’s reading is from John 8:12, and it says, ‘Again Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
Continuing, he spoke to his viewers about how that powerful verse relates to normal life in the modern day, noting that life is filled with discouraging moments but having the rist perspective on God can help us get through them. He said, continuing, “and that’s such a great reminder because in the dark world that we live in today, there’s so many discouraging moments in our daily lives and that verse, there is a reminder that God is in control.”
Then, building on that, he spoke out about how he sees Jesus and why we need Him in our lives, saying, “Jesus is the light of the world, and he’s the hope that we can look forward to in the dark days, in the dark times, in a world that is dragging us down, we have hope in our future.”
Captioning the post, Robb, who is just 22 years old, wrote, “I pray that you will see the light through the darkness you might be facing at the moment, and know that with Jesus, there is hope for the future. Amen. Again Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12”

This isn’t the first time Robb has spoken about his faith. In an article posted to his website, he said that he wants to use racing and his platform to “elevate God’s name,” saying, “Racing is a vehicle I can use to elevate God’s name. I think it’s my platform that I’ve been given to share the gospel and to be salt and light among those around me. I’ve been working on that, especially in the last couple of years — really being outspoken about it and trying to share my faith and give people that knowledge.”
He added that he is trying to find a group fo faith filled guys in racing, but that in the meantime he has his family, saying, “It has actually been a struggle for me the last couple of years because it’s hard to build a strong community of folks who you are in fellowship with. But I’ve been very, very lucky to have a family that is strong in their faith and that I can lean on in hard times and that is going to encourage me … but also allow me to grow where I need to.”
