Hollywood Superstar Chris Pratt Talks Christ-Centered Super Bowl Celebration, Fame Without God

Actor Chris Pratt spread more of his faith in an honest conversation with Craig Melvin, co-host of NBC’s ‘Today’ show. In it, the lead star in iconic Hollywood blockbuster franchises like Jurassic World and Marvel shared the Christ-centered focus during a post-Super Bowl celebration and centered his own entertainment stardom with God.

Making an appearance to promote his new Mario film, at one point in the interview, the fan of the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks said many of the players invited him and his oldest son into the fold, and what followed caught him completely off guard. Players, whom he described as the ultimate symbol of masculinity, gathered in prayer to thank God for their success. Pratt and his son were invited to participate.

“The first thing they did—they’re champions of the world, you know—the first thing they did is they got down on a knee, and they gave a huge prayer, and they let us join, and we joined hands,” Pratt related to Melvin on set. “And it was so wonderful for my son to see these big, masculine, grown men conquer such an amazing achievement and then immediately give the glory to God. I thought it was incredible, man.”

Melvin also referenced Pratt’s faith, noting he was ‘a man of faith’ and his Instagram biography, which succinctly states ‘God first. Grateful to be here. Pratt said he had to be grounded in order to survive the soul-destroying pit of Hollywood. Much like the late Chuck Norris, who likewise found God in amidst the lows of succumbing to the lifestyle so often equated with Tinseltown, Pratt went a step further and said he sees countless celebrities who seemingly have everything but are still miserable.

“I think, you know — there’s this Christine Caine quote that says, ‘If the light that shines upon you is greater than the light that’s within you, then the light that shines upon you will kill you.’ And you see it in our business, man. You see people who have the world by the balls, and they just are so unhappy. Excuse my language.”

“People have this light that shines on them, and it can really make you unhappy and unsettled and turn to things that are not good for you. And, so, for me, it’s really grounding, man. It’s good for me. It’s good for my family. Good for my wife, good for my life.”

The former Parks & Rec goofball has long been vocal about his faith. Even as far back as 2018, when he was well established as a leading man with his work on the Jurassic World series and successful foray into comic book super stardom with his turn in Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt took the stage at the MTV awards show nearly a decade ago and professed the goodness of God. The Christian Tribune reported:

“‘God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do,” said Pratt as he stood proudly on stage and let the moment reach the audience. Cheers and hollers of approval filled the space between his speech.”

“Pratt continued, reminding everyone in the room that not a single one of them was perfect. ‘Learn to pray. It’s easy and it’s so good for your soul. Nobody is perfect. People are going to tell you You’re perfect just the way you are. You’re not. You are imperfect. You always will be. But there is a powerful force that designed you that way, and if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace.'”

“‘And Grace is a gift, and like the freedom that we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood. Do not forget it. Don’t take it for granted,’ Pratt finished, commingling his well-known patriotism with religious fervor.”
