White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller addressed viewers on Fox News shortly after it had been announced that Donald Trump had cleared the way to dismantle the federal Department of Education and he absolutely eviscerated shrieking leftists more upset about its going away than they’ve ever been about its dismal record of helping student outcomes.
Charlie Kirk posted the clip and added additional commentary, saying that the guest Miller, who appeared on a Fox News segment, “isolates the REAL reason Democrats are shrieking at the dismantling of the Department of Education…Failing reading and math scores didn’t enrage the left, wrecking their civilizational destruction mission did.” Indeed, anyone following along with data or certainly anyone with kids or a background working in education can attest that there is more money than ever before and at the same time more problems with the system.
Speaking about why the left was suddenly energized over the bloat of a federal agency disappearing and never about massive learning failures of students, Miller pinpointed that the people found within the department were simply zealots for a cause, of which education was just a vehicle to achieve their ideological ends.
“The Department of Education here in Washington, DC is overwhelmingly staffed by radical-left Marxist bureaucrats who are in every way hostile to Western civilization, hostile to American interest, and hostile to our founding documents and culture, and so they are using their position and influence inside the Department of Education to try to force agendas like radical gender ideology, like critical race theory, like Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and all kinds of anti America curricula and policies on the American people, on our students, on our children,” Miller laid out.
“So it’s taking away from parents the ability to control and direct the education of their own kids, of their own families. So we’re going to do under President Trump’s leadership and direction is to return that authority to the greatest extent possible, to the local level, where parents can control outcomes, while at the same time making sure that no federal funds are used to support racism, to support gender ideology, or support other ideas and principles that are offensive to the American taxpayer,” he added.

In much the same way Democrats and the entrenched bureaucracy is more upset at Donald Trump and Elon Musk exposing fraud, waste, and abuse throughout the federal government with its DOGE initiative rather than being upset that such things exist in the first place, Miller would appear correct that the outrage really just stems from loss of future access to taxpayer money and power.
Comments on the post from Kirk reflected these sentiments. “The left doesn’t care about education, they care about brainwashing kids to destroy Western values,” one user wrote. “Putting the government in charge of educating our kids might be the biggest mistake this country’s ever made,” said another. “Democrats don’t care about education just their radical agenda!” added a third.
