In a shocking example of the left’s hostility to conservative Christians, The Young Turks’ Ana Kasparian blasted the religious right for its staunch pro-life stance, expressing her extreme frustration with the respect that Christians pay to the Bible and the way that its teachings influence Christians’ lives.

For context, Ana Kasparian, a contributor to the leftist news outlet The Young Turks, went on an unhinged rant on June 24, 2022, after Roe v. Wade was overturned, fiercely criticizing conservative Christians for paying attention to what the Bible says. Kasparian, an outspoken atheist, clarified that “all those women” who are Christians “have every right” to practice their faith, but argued that conservative values should not stop her from ending a pregnancy.

Beginning her rant, Kasparian qualified what she was about to say: “These comments might be strong, but it’s how I genuinely feel,” she said, adding, “I don’t care that you’re a Christian. I don’t care what the Bible says. I feel like it’s a clown show, like sitting here trying to decipher what your little mythical book has to say about these very real political issues.”

Continuing, Kasparian said again, “I don’t care if you’re Christian.” She went on, “In fact, I will fight for you to have your religious liberty and practice your Christianity. I believe in that.” However, she clarified, “I don’t believe in Christianity, which means that you do not get to dictate the way I live my life based on your religion.”

Next, Kasparian zeroed in on the issue of the sanctity of unborn life, saying, “I don’t care what the Bible says. You have every right in the world — all those women who identify with your religion have every right in the world —to not get an abortion, to not take birth control.” She continued, “But they do not have the right to dictate my life and what I decide to do with my body.”

As the intensity of her statements grew, Kasparian, flabbergasted, said, “I don’t care about your g-d–n religion.” She went on, “I’m so tired of having non-stop conversations about what the Bible says. You live your life in the way that you interpret the Bible. Again, I don’t care.”

Concluding her tirade, Kasparian said that conservative Christians “don’t get to take the Bible and tell me, ‘Well, the Bible says this in this chapter, in this verse…’ I don’t care. I don’t care. I don’t believe in it, and I have the right, based on our Constitution, to not believe in it.”

Importantly, Kasparian stood her ground after her rant went viral, but clarified that she supported the right to practice religion in America, telling Yahoo News, “Even as an atheist, I support people of faith. I think that it’s an important part of their lives.” She added, “What the religious text of one particular faith indicates does not apply to the rest of the population in a country that has Constitutional protections against church and state.”
