“I Pray Every Night That Everybody Goes Home Safe”: Tom Homan Shares Saddest Part Of Job In Vulnerable Moment With Press

Tom Homan, Donald Trump’s designated border czar who was recently assigned to oversee ICE operations in Minnesota, opened up with reporters about how he viewed his role and what he wanted to see happen. During an unscripted and vulnerable response, he revealed the saddest part about his job and even offered a glimpse of what he hoped for the targets of his agents’ operations.

The messaging to the press came as Democrat leaders in the state continue to defy federal law and hamper the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to identify and detain illegal aliens with criminal records and/or deportation orders. State and local leaders in Minnesota have exacerbated problems not only by willfully denying support to immigration officials but also through their rhetoric and support of anti-ICE rioters.

Homan explained that his job was to protect the officers, whom he deemed patriots, from violence and harm. He said the saddest part of his job was burying agents with Border Patrol or ICE and having to hand a folded flag to wives and children. “I have buried Border Patrol agents and I buried ice age throughout my career, and the saddest thing I ever done is hand a folded flag to a wife or a child,” he said.

But Homan took it a step further. Despite what the media and Democrat politicians insinuate, Homan has concern for everyone involved, including protestors and targets of immigration operations. “I don’t want to see anybody die, even the people we’re looking for,” he shared. “I don’t want to see anybody die. And despite what people think of Tom Homan, I say a prayer every night that everybody goes home safe.”

Admitting the realities on the ground are still harrowing, he was optimistic his presence in the woke state and his meeting with Democrat politicians like Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey would leader to safer and more productive outcomes.

“This isn’t good, but I think my conversations last two and a half days are leading us to a safer community letting nice officers operate in the safety and security of a jail more than on the street. I think anybody here with common sense, would say it’s safer to arrest a public safety threat and the safety and security of a jail. And let me tell you, what is that going to result in less collateral arrests? When we go find that bad guy we find, when we find that bad guy many times, is with others,” he added.

“Well, guess what? They’re in the country illegally. We’re going to force immigration law. They’re coming too. You want less collateral arrest, less than the jail, but we’re going to force immigration law for the people to stand. We’re here to surrender our authority and the mission of enforcing immigration law. You are wrong. We’re going to do target enforcement operations, and we’re going to prioritize the public safety threats and national security threats that is we’re here to do,” his statement finished.
