Back in May of 2023, when she was one of the five singers remaining in American Idol, Georgian singer Megan Danielle spoke out about her Christian faith and how it impacted her life and career. Particularly, she spoke about how, as a sinner, as all of us are, it’s important to remember that God loves all of us and that we should focus on Him rather than on worldly things.
That singer, Megan Danielle, was then a 21-year-old waitress from the state of Georgia. She climbed up through the ranks of singers and ended up placing second in the show, a particularly wonderful feat given both her youth and her willingness to speak out about her faith once granted a large platform and following by her terrific performances on the show.
Danielle spoke up about her faith in a post on Facebook in which she spoke about sin, God’s grace, and prayer. She said, “I was born to share the love of Jesus. Even though I fail everyday, I sin and I’m not perfect… I would never claim or want to be perfect. I know it is so easy to get trapped into what the world wants of you and lose focus of His word because of what the world wants… but I am here to tell you, it is all going to be okay. God loves us & WE need to share more of Him! 🤍🙌🏻 Let me know how I can be helpful and pray for you! 👇🏻❤️”
In another post, she said, “My favorite thing ever to do: WORSHIP JESUS! 🤍🙌🏻” Included was a video of her singing a Gospel song. Commenting on that post, one person said, “Literally so stinkin’ cool that you’re using your faith in Jesus and bringing it to the big stage where you can reach the broken 🥹 so proud of you girl!”
Similarly, in another worship post, she said, “I strongly believe my favorite part about worship is not only that God is moving through me, it’s that I get to witness Him moving through the people before me and that is why I do what I do. ❤️ I’m so beyond grateful.”
Even the judges joined in and praised her for her faith. At one point, for example, judge and country superstar Luke Bryan said, “What I love about you— I mean, we’re way beyond loving your voice, is you’re—you know you’re never scared to tell everybody your faith.” He added that the song was a perfect choice for her, saying, “I just felt in my heart that I couldn’t pick a better one.”

Speaking about how she ended up singing, Megan, who signed a record deal after her American Idol performance, said, “since I was a little girl I have always enjoyed listening to music and singing along to anything I’d hear. I was always so shy to pursue it but eventually around the age of 15, I booked my own show at a restaurant in Douglasville. Then at the age of 18, I was singing anywhere I could…in bars, venues, and any place that would have me. I always knew I wasn’t living up to my full potential and then one night at a show, my Grandpa really influenced me to follow my calling. It was at that time, ironically, I quit performing altogether to learn more about myself, about God and what plans He had for my life.”
