According to royal experts, Kate Middleton has “strengthened her Christian faith” amid her arduous battle with cancer. As the Princess of Wales has demonstrated, life’s challenging moments often serve as an opportunity to test and strengthen one’s faith in the face of adversity. As Theologian C.S. Lewis once said, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains.”
It was announced in September that Middleton had completed chemotherapy, but a long recovery process was underway. Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner weighed in, “Information [has been] appearing about Kate and how, during the period of [her] cancer treatment… [she has] strengthened her values with her Christian faith by talking to friends who have strong religious values.”
“The Princess of Wales’s health scare has been an emotional, stormy, unsettling, and worrying period of her life,” a British broadcaster noted. “It doesn’t surprise me that she is more interested in faith,” she added. “The power of faith can never be underestimated in overcoming challenging times and I hope [it] has given her immense solace.”
British Royal expert Hilary Fordwich echoed the same sentiment. “Faith is nothing new to Princess Catherine as she was raised in a devoutly Christian household, with her resulting faith contributing to her worldview and values,” Fordwich explained. “She was christened as a child and confirmed into the Church of England preceding her wedding to Prince William. Even amid her cancer treatment, she was seen in public attending Sunday Church services in August at Balmoral’s Craithe Kirk in the Scottish village of Crathie.”
Fordwich added that Middleton has often spoken about the role that faith plays in her life. “She has spoken often regarding spirituality in her life,” she continued. “Her religious beliefs are manifested in her dedication to serving others and promoting compassion.”
The American Tribune previously reported on the news that Kate Middleton had completed her battle with cancer. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she said. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
The Princess of Wales continued, “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” she said. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
Middleton explained that cancer has reminded her how we must always be grateful and appreciated how fragile life is. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted,” she said. “Of simply loving and being loved. Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus.”
However, she expressed how she has a new perspective on life after having defeated cancer. “Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” Middleton said.
