Famous actor and outspoken Christian activist Kirk Cameron recently gave a powerful reminder of where our hope lies as tensions increase in the United States ahead of the upcoming election. In recent years, politics has become a substantial idol for many Americans who have put their faith in the political system and their leaders of choice instead of God, who rules over all nations.
Speaking to podcaster Heidi St. John, Cameron emphasized that hope should not lie in electing the leader one believes will best represent the nation. Rather, the actor explained how the hope lies in God sparking an “awakening” his children to bring about a massive “revival.”
“Listen, our hope is not going to be in getting the right person into the presidency, although we want the best person into the presidency. Our hope is in the power of God awakening the family of faith to get back to governing themselves under the principles found in God’s word and bringing real revival to our hearts, to our homes, to our communities and to our nation,” Cameron said.
However, Cameron noted that this would not necessarily be a straightforward or easy process. He added, “But it’s going to take hard work, and it’s going to take time, and we’ve got to each do our part and begin to rebuild civilization starting at our dinner table and talking to our kids and reading them stories in school and doing the hard work.”
Cameron is set to release an upcoming book titled, “Born to Be Brave” in which he guides Christians on how to step up in the face of adversity. “My new book, Born to Be Brave: How To Be a Part of America’s Spiritual Comeback will be released on October 8. I want you to get a copy because it will give you, as a person of faith, tools for real hope and courage in the midst of the moral and cultural dumpster-fire we are experiencing in America,” he said. “God did not journey from heaven to Earth to make us cowards in the face of evil; we were born to be brave!”
Explaining his motivation to write his book, he said, “There is a crossroads that we’re at in this nation, and I find people at a decision point. They’re either going to curl up in a ball in the corner of the room, sing you Come Lord Jesus, and cry in their Chick-fil-A soup while they watch the mainstream legacy media and think that there’s nothing they can do, or they’re going to get up off the couch,” Cameron said.
He continued, “They’re going to lean in, they’re going to stand up, they’re going to take a hold of that new creation, courage, that second birth bravery, and begin to apply God’s principles for a personal renewal, a family renewal, and then work it all the way out into their communities and start leveraging biblical truth that can bring heaven to earth, even through civil government. That’s what I want to be about. That’s why I wrote this book Born to Be brave. Born to be brave and pre order, right.”
