Thousands of students at the University of Arkansas recently participated in a massive Christian revival over the weekend, where many young students surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, placing their faith in the savior of humanity. According to reports from Unite US, 10,000 college students from dozens of schools donned on the Bud Walton Arena to worship the Lord and baptize many in the name of Christ. The revival at the University of Arkansas is the latest among a wave of evangelical events sprouting up across America’s college campuses.
Speaking about the revival in an Instagram post, the ministry said, “Jesus met us there,” adding, “We were blown away by His presence in the room and how it carried over to baptisms. It was a night we’ll never forget.” According to the testimony of one young man just before his baptism, “I spent a lot of years running from God. I just came to Jesus about five weeks ago, but I got caught up in, I’ll just say it, cocaine and alcohol. I had a lot of really near-death experiences and I think Jesus had his hand on my life because I should not be here.”
According to prominent evangelist Tonya Prewett, so far, over 2,000 salvations and over 800 baptisms have taken place through the Unite US campus events over the past year. “I believe this is the generation that will usher in the greatest move of God we’ve ever seen, and we’re seeing that,” Prewett noted during a recent podcast appearance.
She continued, “And I do believe what we had in the fall and the spring of this past year is just the beginning. Greater things are coming, and I feel for the end of this year and leading into 2025, something greater is coming. God is doing something across this nation… I do believe this move of God on college campuses is ushering in a greater awakening.”
The Christian Tribune reported on a similar event that was hosted at the University of Texas A&M Corpus Christi that brought about dozens of baptisms. “Nearly 1500 students last night [at] Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. 62 water baptisms. Powerful testimonies. Many physically healed and delivered! Jesus is Lord….. and He is coming back,” Pastors Michael and Bonne Fehlauer said.
“As the altar was opened, there was an invitation given to profess faith in Jesus through water baptism, receive prayer for healing and receive prayer for the baptism of the Holy Spirit,” the pastors further noted, expressing the. “The night continued with students and young adults sharing testimonies in real-time of salvation, healing, deliverance, and being filled with the Spirit,” Whitmore continued. “The night concluded with a commissioning of those who wanted God to use them on their college campus — All declaring, ‘Here I am. Send me!’”
New Life Young Adults hosted a similar event last year, that drew roughly 1,000 students and over 100 baptisms. New Life Young Adults Pastor Tarik Whitmore pointed out the difference this year, stating, “We saw an increase in physical healings, deliverance, and people receiving a baptism of the Holy Spirit,” he said. “We had many who were baptized last year in attendance. And many who attended last year were leading and serving at this year.”
