Pastor Jack Hibbs, the founder and senior pastor of the Calvary Chapel Chino Hills Megachurch in Southern California, recently addressed the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Hibbs ultimately urged Trump to use the harrowing attempt on his life to truly commit himself to God and “bow the knee.”
“Mr. President, if you’re watching this right now, your right ear was bloodied. It wasn’t your eye that got shot. It wasn’t your nose that got shot. It wasn’t your temple that was intended to be shot. Your ear was hit, but we would like and pledge and pray that you might bow your knee before the Lord Almighty and say, not only did God do this, because I know Mr. President you said that today that God protected me,” Hibbs said.
The pastor further called on Trump to genuinely understand who God really is. “But who is God, Mr. President? Who is He? What’s His name? You’ve heard it for years. It’s time to bow the knee. It’s time to say that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He’s the one that rules over the affairs of man. He loves and died on the cross and rose again from the grave. It is Jesus Christ. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and He desires that all men should come to worship him in spirit and in truth,” Hibbs stated.
The megachurch founder added that the horrific incident at his Butler, Pennsylvania“ rally served as a “warning” from God for Trump to submit himself to the Lord. “This has been a warning by Almighty God that your ear might be sanctified. Will you hear this? Can you hear this? Listen to the Word of God. Stop talking about God and come to know God. It makes all the difference in the world,” he said.
Following the attempted assassination, Trump posted about the rally shooting on his social media platform Truth Social, in which he ultimately gave credit to “God alone” for saving his life. The bullet that grazed his ear was likely millimeters away from fatally striking him in the head.
“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote.
The Christian Tribune also reported on comments from Dr. Ben Carson, who expressed his belief that God played a divine role in protecting Trump during the rally. “I firmly believe with all my heart that God was watching over President Trump. As I said back in 2016 and again recently, I think President Trump is called for this moment in history. God is not done with our country, and President Trump cares about our nation deeply. Let us pray for our nation, for President Trump to continue to have wisdom, and for our country to unify,” he said.
