The McKnight parents in northern Oklahoma are speaking out about God and God’s grace after their daughters were saved from drowning. They claim that God miraculously intervened and saved the young girls in the near-death incident.
That incident occurred when the McKnights were visiting Jacob McKnight’s sister in Edmond, Oklahoma, with their three young daughters, 4-year-old Callie, 6-year-old Zoey, and 1-year-old Eleanor. Describing what happened, Caitlin McKnight told KWTV-DT, “From 2:00 to 5:00, we were all out there together — me and all of the girls.”
She continued, explaining when she noticed that something terrible had happened, “Ellie came in to say ‘hi’ to daddy because she heard him talking, and I followed. I went back out [and] noticed that I didn’t see [my two older daughters].”
Caitlin and Jacob then immediately sprung into action and began searching the property for their young daughters. Jacob, describing finding the girls in the bottom of the 10 foot deep pool, said, “I’m starting to get pretty panicked at this point. I assumed the worst, so I ran over to the pool, and I could see — crystal clear — I saw them at the bottom of the pool.”
He was able to get them out of the pool, but they needed to be revived. He said, “They were dead. But our medical team, with their knowledge, wisdom, and equipment, were able to bring them back. We feel so blessed to be at this hospital.”
Their lungs are inflamed, but both are alive and improving. Caitlin, describing their condition, said: “Both of them are awake, and obviously, they still can’t talk because they’ve got the ventilator, but they’ve both opened their eyes. They’ve both responded to questions yes, no, and both have smiled. It’s just really encouraging to see my girls are in there and they’re fighting.”
Jacob took the opportunity to describe why parents should know how to perform CPR, saying, “You need CPR training if you have kids because you never know when literally it’s between life and death. We believe this was a miracle.” He added that God helped save his girls, saying, “We do believe God was there. We believe that there’s a miracle at play.”
