Robert Burale is a celebrity pastor based in Kenya. The pastor, who has worked as an actor and writer, found himself at the center of a major controversy. The Kenyan preacher admitted that he struggled with an addiction to strip clubs. Despite this, he continues to offer dating and marriage advice. Burale admitted to spending a large amount of money funding his addiction.
” I was a mess at some point in life. I was always sharply dressed on the outside but on the inside I was a mess. My life was in chaos. Around 2007, I partied continuously, dated several women and I was addicted to strip clubs,” the pastor revealed. ” I incurred heavy debts because of this addiction. I came to the end of myself in 2008 — I had so many problems and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I decided to give my life to Christ.”
“It was a lack of identity, it was not because I was under the spirit of lust and immorality. It was a lack of identity, and when you go to the strip club, the women under some few coins will make you feel like you are the King of Zamunda because they are dancing and giving you all the attention that you need,” the pastor revealed during another interview.
“Strippers love tall people because when they dance, they have a lot to look at,” he insightfully added. “The work of a stripper is to bedevil you and capture you in the spirit. The game they play is a very spiritual thing. They sit on your lap dance and never take away their eyes off you then you leave the strip club saying you will never come back here again,”Burale helpfully added.
“But when you go to bed, that is the thing that reminds you in your mind, and you are, oh my goodness, I need to go back there tomorrow,” Burale said to describe his addiction. “There is one night I spend Ksh100,000 ($780) on a strip club.” The pastor used his past addiction to make a broader point. “Even people who are addicted to pornography is a lack of identity,” he explained.
“You see, I joined the wrong company while studying in the UK and that is how I started going to strip clubs and drinking,” he described. ” After completing my studies, I came back home and continued with my evil ways. But thank God I got saved in the nick of time.” In the same interview, he described the moment he turned from his worldly ways.
“One day, I was driving my car and I saw something like a vision where God was speaking to me. It was scary. It felt like God was telling me to change my ways and turn to Him. I was so scared and confused I went to a pastor on Ngong’ Road and explained to him what happened,” Burale recounted. ” He led me to Christ. It was not easy changing my old ways as I still had a bit of the old man trying to come forth again.
“Though I am a changed man, now one of the greatest challenges I have faced is that some people still look at me with the eyes of the past. It is, especially difficult because I am a public figure. I keep my eyes on God,” he added. He also took aim at other prominent figures for trying to whitewash their public image, “Many people are living lies, especially the so-called celebrities. That is why they are living lives beyond their means. That is why some of them are always broke.”
