New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis recently spoke about trusting in God’s divine plan for each and every one of us when life doesn’t make sense. Davis echoed the wisdom taught in the Bible, which teaches Christians not to lean on their own understanding but rather to trust God with all their heart.
“You know God is funny because He always asks you to do the opposite of something,” Davis said during an interview with Sports Spectrum. “I think about last year, you know, I got hurt for a game, and they told me, like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to be down for 21 days minimum.’ And it was a Sunday game; we gotta play on Thursday.”
Continuing to speak about the injury he said, “God just kind of told me in a whisper like, ‘I ain’t spoke yet.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.’ Now you’re like, ‘God, they said 21 days, You thinking I’m about to go out here and play on Thursday?’ [God said] ‘If I say you can do it, you can go.’ And I played on Thursday.”
Davis also shared an experience where his prayers were greatly answered when his daughter was having a seizure. “Now, it was a lot of faith in that because I was scared. But it was like, if God said it, I gotta go,” he said. “And so God will put you in a situation where you actually have to walk through it. My daughter had her seizures. Like I had to pray all the way to the hospital. My wife was in the ambulance, and she flatlined twice. But I’m praying and calling Jesus’ blessing while we’re in the car.”
Davis explained that following their prayers, his daughter’s condition miraculously improved after their prayers. “She was talking clearer than before, and it was 3 o’clock. We heard her talk and let her talk for about 20 minutes and said, ‘Hey baby, it’s nighttime, let’s go back to sleep.’ I just prayed, started saying, ‘Praise God. Praise God.’ The next morning when she got up, my daughter was so sharp. She was able to talk to me and her mom. I mean, clear conversation. She’s sharp for a four-year-old. No stuttering, all her words clear,” Davis said.
The Christian Tribune recently reported on Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates honoring Christ after his incredible journey to the NFL. NBC reporter Melissa Stark asked the Detroit Lions kicker in a postgame interview, “And just recently, you are a brick salesman. you thought you were out of football. so what does this mean to you to come back and do this in your hometown area?” He began, “I think it just shows how good the Lord is.”
He continued, “He’s so faithful. and man, my story is, if anything, i just hope people, hope people can see jesus through my story. and, i mean, that’s what I’m thinking I’m here to do is not make or miss or be a good king or a bad kicker but spread the love of Jesus, so hopefully I’m able to do that on the stage.”
