Houston Texans star defensive end Will Anderson Jr. recently gave all the honor to God after he helped carry his team to victory against the Chicago Bears over the weekend.  Speaking to the press after the game, he was sure to express that all the glory belongs to the Lord.

“First I just got to give all the glory to God, man,” he told a reporter following the major win on Sunday. “His favor is upon this team, man. And He’s just working in mysterious ways, so He gets all the praise and worship.” He added, “And this team man, [is] special. Special group of guys.  And we tell each other that all the time man, and we’re chasing something big, and when everybody has the same mentality, good things happen.”

Speaking about the support he receives from his fans he said,  “It’s awesome.  It’s a blessing, man.”  He continued, “I can’t take credit for it. I got to give it to God, man. These awesome fans that come out to support us, they could be doing anything, but they love Houston. They love our team and we’re so appreciative of them.”

Movieguide previously reported on faith-based comments from Anderson, who said,  “I think that’s the difference.  Like, this year I’m like, ‘God, whether it’s a good game or bad game — anything — You’re gonna get the praise and the glory for it. I’m gonna let You use me however You want to use me each game.’ I just want to be a servant, be a leader and be a blessing to my teammates and help them out in any type of way. So that’s my whole thing coming into this year. It’s like, ‘God, however You want to use me, I just want to be a blessing to this team.’”

In other Christian-related football news, The Christian Tribune reported on a massive evangelical event hosted by members of the football team at Ohio State University, who reportedly passed out 10,000 Bibles and baptized many students who were ready to put their faith in Christ.

“These Ohio State football players just did something on campus that I have never seen before, a free event put on by some of the Buckeye’s biggest stars collected 1000s from the Ohio State community and grew even more throughout the night,” a narrator said in a video of the event posted on TikTok.

“It was all about sharing their faith in Jesus, which started with everybody coming together to worship, and the energy was amazing. Each of the players went up to share their stories of how their relationship with Jesus has changed their lives and how much God loves each and every person in the crowd,” he added. “Courageous attendees took a leap of faith to come up front and pray a prayer to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And it only gets better, late into the night, with everyone taking notice, person after person made the decision to get baptized, which is a public profession of their faith, and lives are going to be changed forever,”
