Conservative podcaster and social media influencer Benny Johnson took a compelling argument, replete with factual and historical evidence, to former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s Fox News program to make the case that America was founded on Christianity that “of course America is a Christian nation.”
Writing on X, Johnson laid out his case as he captioned the segment he shared on McEnancy’s hosting spot on Fox. “Of course America is a Christian Nation,” the host of The Benny Show began. He then bullet-pointed an inexhaustive list of reasons defending that claim.
“The original state constitutions professed Jesus Christ as King,” he noted, adding, “A Christian statement of faith was required to serve in public office. Our Declaration of Independence is written as a prayer to the ‘Judge’ of the world — Jesus Christ.”
Adding to that, he noted that “55/56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were Bible believing Christians. Our original founding document references God 4 times and derives all principles from Biblical law. John Adams said our nation was established only for a ‘moral and religious people,’” he continued.
Johnson then made the boldest claim of the entire segment: “When the godless left attacks ‘Christian Nationalism’ they are attacking America itself,” he declared. “Polling shows Democrats have abandoned Christianity en-masse while the right is leading a revival back to the church. We also are the only ones creating families, having children and passing on our values.”
“America is a Christian Nation and our descendants will restore it to its original founding,” the post concluded. Watch Johnson make his case below:
In the video, Johnson expanded on these ideas. “The original 13 states, the vast majority of them required you to be a Bible believing, Christ professing Christian to serve in public office. The original document that founded our nation, the Declaration of Independence, references God four times, calling him the creator and judge of the universe,” he explained.
“Who is the judge of the universe, exactly? Kaylee, it’s Christ, that’s what Revelation says. But it also references that all men are created equal. This is derived directly from Deuteronomy and Levitical law, where it says you shall not judge poor or rich any differently. The foundations, the very bedrock of this nation, is based entirely upon Christian principles, not some type of French Enlightenment, not anything secular,” he told the Fox host.
“It is based on Christ himself, and the founders believe that that is how we have moved forward morally, and actually you don’t want to live in a country that doesn’t have some of these Christian tenets, like freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of movement, freedom of thought. These are Christian principles. Again, you can find the bedrock in Christ’s own teaching and the Old Testament, and that’s why America is unique. It’s why America is special, and it’s also something that I think is critical.”
